A friend of mine was going through a hard time and I felt very emotionally connected to the darkness they were feeling.  I went to the piano and improvised a song for them to express the feeling of sadness I was experiencing for their struggle.

This is my response to this week's @naviar-records haiku challenge. Here's more information about that:

"Star above the peak -
a silk worm-breeding village
silently asleep"
 
Mizuhara Shuoshi was a 20th century Japanese poet. Shuoshi rebelled against the principles of emotional detachment in haiku, which he thought limited his ability to emotionally express himself through poetry: he started a magazine called Staggerbush which focused on a more romantic, lyrical type of haiku.
