Words For Whippersnappers Ft. Ibe Hustles and TEQNiK G

A fascination with the art of freestyle gave birth to the raspy voiced McAllen native Mic Melt. Born into the Hip Hop culture through Graffiti, and never intending to record albums, Mic Melt started out freestyle battling at local parties and in the clubs of Mexico. He created a group called Damaja Squad with all the emcees he could find locally, but the styles of each member were to different to do anything serious. They recorded a self titled single at Targon Records with Daddy J Fez which is hidden somewhere in the archives where it’ll stay! His efforts then got concentrated on putting on one of the first “organized” MC battles of the Valley, called “Battle Of the MC’s (which was attended by the “at the time B-Boy” Myke Nyse).
 It was about that same time he met his close friend and brother in rhyme Ill Temp. Mic Melt and Ill Temp along with Bader and Abad helped built a label called 4H Records (HeavyHipHopHeads). Mic Melt and Ill Temp turned Damaja Squad into a duo and continued to battle and perform all over the RGV. The duo only officially put out work on “4H presents The Comp”.
When Ill Temp had to move away unexpectedly, he was convinced by his friends to become the front man for one of the Valley’s first fully Hip Hop bands, also called Damaja Squad. The band put out a four song demo at the end of 4H’s existence which was also self titled. With Damaja Melt got to open up for acts such as Ludacris, the Ying Yang Twins, Kid Frost, and even Chingo Bling. He spent the next couple of years, performing both covers and originals alike in the local bars, arenas, and nightclubs. 
A good friend and 2nd drummer for Damaja Squad, Kido El Unico (Cumbia Kings, Personal Use, Bread8, Kactuz, Melmacs ect…) Dj’d a side project with Melt called the Audiobotz which was eventually supposed to involve Evolve and Elo.
His next project was to MC a 10-man-super-band headed by Kido El Unico which played an eclectic mix of reggae, hip hop, and cumbia all over Texas known as Personal Use. Though Personal Use showed madd potential, disagreements broke the band up in 2013, leaving y’all with the LP “Peace.Love.Music”.
While still playing with Personal Use in 2011, Mic Melt got introduced to the TBL (Texas Battle League) by the homie Evolve. By 2012 he made a name for himself respectfully, battling emcees from all over Texas in a written format of battling which was new to him. Melt got so involved in the TBL he had his own division called the RGV BattleKings headed by himself and Eloquence.
During this time his interests with recording changed drastically and he jumped at the opportunity provided by Evolve to join Boom Bap. Prolonged by life’s twisted way of inspiring, Melt is finally ready to release his first solo LP Aggravated Assault dropping Feb. 16 2016.
