microcastle begins 2020 by welcoming Cornucopia back to the label for a new EP. The mysterious artist makes a much-anticipated follow-up to the July 2018 release ‘Forever Gone’. The three-track offering saw a wide spectrum of play and support from some of the underground’s top tastemakers in Adam Port, Ame, Baikal, Dixon, Frankey & Sandrino, Guy J, Jimi Jools, Laurent Garnier, Luca Bacchetti, Patrice Baumel and Solomun. With a release on Multinotes to highlight 2019, Cornucopia now lands back on microcastle with ‘River of Memories’ to begin the new year.

Elusive and organic in equal measure, the transcendent nature of Cornucopia has the rare ability to unite a cross section of music lovers. The romantic sounds of ‘River of Memories’ sits as perhaps the most apt illustration, invoking a rare combination of hope, heartache, reflection and meditation across it’s eleven-minute storyboard. Spread across five tracks, MULYA's microcastle debut is an eclectic blend of electronica, disco, indie-dance and melodic house. Emotionally charged throughout, the journey begins with the broken beats and electric grooves of 'Out of Sync'. It's pensive overlays and warped arps make for a compelling first act, before a cinematic break shifts the narrative into a tense yet spirited finale of pulsating rhythms and tantalizing acid hooks. The energy continues to rise with the disco-infused grooves of 'Frisco'. Possessing a dramatic undercurrent, punchy kicks and detailed percussion create waves of energy at the outset. microcastle's third offering of 2020 welcomes Ivory back to the label for a new EP. Based in Milan, Italian artist Daniel Tagliaferri aka Ivory brings a surreal beauty to his innovative brand of electronic composition. As a favourite of Adriatique, Ame, Dixon, Lehar, Tale Of Us, Toto Chiavetta and Trikk, Ivory made his microcastle debut in July of last year with 'No Scale Can Resize You'. Rising to #1 in Beatport Indie Dance and Melodic House & Techno, the release received praise from both his contemporaries and fans alike. Carrying momentum forward, 2020 has yielded significant creative successes for Daniel. The release of 'Dreamers' via Innervisions and 'Hold Your Breath' via Multinotes have proven to be two of the year's most well received tracks. Now fresh off a remix for L.K.F Project via AZZUR, Ivory makes a welcome return to microcastle with 'Light Through Water'.

As a much-requested track from Ivory's sets, it is the arcane wonder 'Time Lapse' which gets the EP underway. Rhythmically buoyant, it's rippling low end, kaleidoscopic synths and fiery percussion set the release on a course for aural enlightenment. Although best known for his warmer, musical prowess; it is the wintry quality of 'Quartz' which follows, placing Ivory in the unique spot of also being able to craft starker, more rhythmic compositions. A highlight in the sets of Trikk, it's peculiar blend of titanium kicks, icy refrains and hypnagogic synthscapes set the stage for the robust muscularity of 'Steam Machine'. A recent favourite of Toto Chiavetta, this austere, machine-funk delight appears to be set for dance floor destruction.

Moving forward yet stripping things back are the hypno grooves of 'Minderals'. Another creation championed by Trikk; it's slow burning drawl, percussive splashes and pyrotechnic synth design are perfect for the more astute connoisseur. The twisted echoes which lurk in 'Minderals' are decayed further still on the following number 'Eufrat', a track where Ivory's elastic grooves and metallic sonics are set against a backdrop of pixie-like effects.

Trending towards the grandiose is the title selection 'Light Through Water'. Pitched somewhere comfortably between dreamy reverie and symphonic bliss, it's a piece equally at home above a festival skyline or sitting in the emotional sweet spot of an end of the night scenario. Captivating and poignant in equal measure, it's widescreen nature tastefully melts down into the fluid tranquility of 'Arpstairs'. Ivory flexes his borderless versatility here, as notes ring out into timeless suspension, while a gentle flurry of arpeggiated tones sweep their way across a bed of broken rhythms.

Andre Sobota returns to microCastle for the labels 30th overall release. The Brazilian producer has continued to impress since his hugely successful 'Surrounded By Time' EP from the summer of 2012. Andre's unique melodic sound has been enchanting electronic music fans over the first half of 2013 and he continues to be a firm favourite of Above and Beyond, Hernan Cattaneo, Sasha, Eric Prydz and Markus Schulz. We're thrilled to have Andre back on microCastle for his second EP entitled 'Pulsatilla' which includes 3 brand new original productions with remixes from: Henry Saiz, Electric Rescue and 16 Bit Lolitas.

The title track has a unique and refreshing summer vibe that might just be one of Andre's most ambitious productions to date. The warm, sun drenched harmonies play off the grungy low end perfectly for what results in a wonderfully warped sounding melodic creation. This is one production that will have nightclub goers transported to a place far more magical than a dark smoky room. The lone remix of 'Pulsatilla' comes from Henry Saiz who is making his debut on microCastle here. The highly touted Spanish producer has just come off what many feel is this year's best album. 'Reality Is For Those Who Are Not Strong Enough To Confront Their Dreams' was released in early June on Henry's own Natura Sonoris imprint and has electronic music fans from around the world singing his praises. Henry's uniquely organic and abundantly musical sound has melded itself extremely well to 'Pulsatilla'. The result is a production which sounds like the perfect summer anthem. The second original 'Full Circle' is a light and airy construction. Andre's creative imagination never ceases to amaze and his dynamic beats and delicately interwoven melodies have never sounded better here. The main break is particularly captivating with its shimmering backdrop, grinding build and idyllic harmonies. The unique melodic themes suspend in your subconscious and lead to the reintroduction of the beats for a warm rush of emotion which closes the record out extremely strong. Electric Rescue makes his first appearance on microCastle and provides the lone remix of 'Full Circle'. The French producer just released his ground breaking 'Sonic Architecture' LP on Bedrock and his unique take on techno is routinely championed by Laurent Garnier and John Digweed. For his 'Full Circle' interpretation Electric Rescue has crafted a deep techno rework that comes with an immense dance floor presence. Big character laden beats along with rhythmic stabs and dynamic fills generate some huge momentum throughout. A spectacular remix from Electric Rescue which should be huge on the techno floors all summer.

The 34th release on microCastle sees the long awaited re-issue of  Grammy nominated producer Barry Jamieson's 'Stars'. The seminal track was originally recorded in 2002 shortly after Evolution disbanded and was subsequently released in 2004 under the alias of Invisible Inc. The track gained huge popularity when Sasha began opening many of his sets with the ambient version well over a year before the official release. The storied UK DJ also featured 'Stars' as the closing track on his famed 'New Emissions of Light and Sound' DVD soundtrack which saw Sasha, Barry and Charlie May win best original score at the 2008 Sundance Film Festival in the Extreme Sports film category. It's irresistible and emotionally charged melodies made it one of the most sought after pieces of music at the time and was accompanied by several club interpretations for the official release. John Digweed was also a huge supporter of the record and featured the 'Unbroken' Mix in many of his live and radio sets. For the reissue we have included the original ambient and original club versions which have been previously unavailable along with brand new remixes from label artists Charlie May and Guy J.

The Australian producer is making his fifth appearance on the Canadian imprint which follows his critically acclaimed 'The Wonder of You' EP from 2013. Jamie has achieved an amazing level of critical and commercial success over the course of his career. As one of his country’s most talented and sought after music producers he has proven his skill in professional sound design, music scores for film and contemporary electronic music. As the founding member of Infusion, the much-loved Australian live act, he’s left his mark around the globe, headlining some of the biggest and most respected clubs including; Fabric- London, Pacha – Buenos Aires, Womb- Tokyo and festivals such as Glastonbury, Coachella, Roskilde and Creamfields in Moscow, Brazil, UK and Argentina. In his home country, Infusion has received 2 prestigious ARIA awards for their work. More recently Jamie’s solo discography has been highlighted with a contribution to John Digweed and Nick Muir’s ‘Versus’ album (released courtesy of Bedrock) along with the aforementioned ‘The Wonder of You’, reaching #1 positions on Beatport in Tech House and Electronica and now regarded as Jamie's career best piece of music. Standout remixes for King Unique and Robert Babicz were showcased in the the first half of 2015 and now microCastle is pleased to present Jamie's long awaited EP entitled 'The Healing' alongside a remix from label artist Guy J.

The release begins with 'My Tears Don't Help Me' which finds Jamie crafting a deep and emotive number in his own inimitable style. Anchored by subterranean beats and a low slung groove it's an immediately compelling piece of music, compounded by vocal motifs and orchestral designs. It's a deeply moving vibe and one which comes from a real life place. In Jamie's own words "After a succession of very trying months this past year, the vocal sample I came across when making this track spoke to me sincerely. It was the perfect fit for the music I had created from the same headspace."

The lone interpretation of 'My Tears Don't Help Me' is provided by Guy J who is making his fourth appearance on microCastle. The Israeli born Malta based producer is fresh off several triumphs in 2014. Guy's 'Once In A Blue Moon' EP, released courtesy of Bedrock Records was one of the year's most critically acclaimed releases. Reaching #1 in the Beatport Top 100, its sophisticated melodies touched the hearts and minds of music lovers around the globe; it proved once again that there is simply no one better at crafting soulful sounds. Guy also readily accepted the challenge of updating one of electronic music's seminal ambient compositions, Barry Jamieson's 'Stars', released courtesy of microCastle. A daunting task and one which he pulled off with resounding success. As the collective electronic music underground anxiously awaits Guy's newest studio creation microCastle is pleased to present just his second production of 2015. For his 'My Tears Don't Help Me' interpretation Guy has put his own magical touch on the production and reinvented it for a peak time dance floor. It's tough, driving beats and big, commanding drums bring an energetic presence while a storyboard of indistinct motifs tastefully lift the emotion higher. Charming use of the vocal elements combined with a poignant breakdown of keys leads the piece to an elating finale; one which is sure to unite your dance floor for a special 3AM moment.

Partial Press Release: The 41st release on microCastle welcomes Khen to the label for his debut EP. The young Israeli artist has been touted as one of his country's foremost electronic music talents. Undoubtedly a future global star, the long-time favourite of Hernan Cattaneo, Guy J and Guy Mantzur has risen to his greatest heights in 2015, with a recent release on Lost & Found Records, preceded by similarly excellent material for Sudbeat Music and Parquet Recordings. Now closing the year out on a high note, Khen makes his long awaited debut on microCastle with the 'Pollen Spreader' EP, alongside a remix from the always excellent Luca Bacchetti.

The EPs third selection and also its title cut 'Pollen Spreader' finds Khen exploring the more subversive, electronica realm of his studio repertoire. The classically styled analog production flows through a myriad of indistinct motifs and subtle musical themes, eventually converging for several poignant moments. For Khen it was a track constructed to begin a long set with, as he describes "The first thing that went through my mind with 'Pollen Spreader' was that it was set out to be a track to start a long main set with. I focused on 808 samples for a steady groove combined with Hammond chords, Rhodes and analogue synthesizers resulting in a timeless feel."

The lone interpretation of 'Pollen Spreader' is provided by Luca Bacchetti who is making his first appearance on microCastle. The Italian artist and Endless label boss now calls Barcelona, Spain home. His diverse musical tastes have shaped his storied career, and filled his discography with immaculate creations on All Day I Dream, Crosstown Rebels, Ovum Recordings and his own Endless imprint. Luca carries inspiration from art, architecture and his world travels, all of which contribute to his ever evolving, border-less approach to production. His elegant craftsmanship has been touching the hearts and minds of electronic music lovers for years and he's turned in a splendid rendition of 'Pollen Spreader' here. While retaining the tough, analog appeal of the original Luca has created his own unforgettable designs, which come to life following a stylized first act of jangly hooks. After stripping down, the piece flows through a tension filled section of dynamic beats and new found vocal elements, before the poignant theme is unleashed for a heavenly finale. As Luca says " When I do a remix I need to get inspired and I need to find the right elements to develop my own vision, it’s a state of mind, a place which I can’t explain beyond a certain point otherwise I empty it of its content and meaning… With these 9 minutes, I hope to bring you there! The EP's lead piece 'Sunflakes' has been the subject of much mystery since the summer season. Following several airings by Hernan Cattaneo, Guy J and Guy Mantzur, the collective underground continued to wonder who crafted this poignant creation. The rugged energy and timeless emotive qualities may have been a dead giveaway for some of Khen's most diehard fans, but now the magic of 'Sunflakes' is finally unveiled to the world. Following a trip to Malta for a weekend and gig with Guy J the composition came together quickly and has been sending dance floors into a frenzy ever since. As Khen describes "When I was asked by microCastle for a main melody track it took me a couple of months to start working on it, not only because I didn’t have time but because I was almost afraid to start a new session with the possibility of no success, and one day it just happened in a special summer mood with the inspiration after my first Lost and Found night in Malta. This is what I call funky, melodic and progressive minded, full of emotions."

The techno inspired 'Emergency Routine' follows with its big chunky, beats and shimmering overlays, which are just enough to heighten your emotions and initiate a break full of hope and tranquility. In Khen's own words: "I was searching for live instruments, strings, drums and bass guitar together with analogue synths to make a spacious but dramatic atmosphere, and the name reminds me of the difficult days of the security situation in my country."

Released earlier this month, the four track EP featured a Luca Bacchetti remix and was a huge success; reaching #10 in the Beatport overall Top 100,  #2 in both Electronica and Progressive House, and #4 in Techno. For the third edition of our podcast we've chosen a live set of Khen's recorded from his first gig at Bahrein, Buenos Aires in October of this year. It was a momentous occasion for the young Israeli artist and one which left lasting memories for his Argentinean fans. Over four magical hours he worked through an effortless flow of rugged beats, deep grooves and poignant melodies. His much loved 'Secret Shining' and 'Sunflakes', along with several unreleased gems touched the hearts and minds of all who attended that night.  Khen's approach to DJing in a way mirrors his most loved production hallmarks, where there's a compelling story unfolding at each and every moment, ultimately building to something truly special. It's certainly not a common trait amongst today's DJs and just one of many things which sets him apart from the pack. It makes each and every set a special experience just like this one here. Label artist Khen has done a special 'Bronzed Re-Edit' of his classic 'Sunflakes' track. As a thank you for the great support we received on his 'Pollen Spreader EP' we're offering this as a Free Download. The Original version proved to be one of the biggest tracks of the summer season, earning regular play from Hernan Cattaneo, Guy J and Guy Mantzur. Eventually released in mid November, the track enjoyed immense success, reaching #13 in Beatport's Progressive House tracks chart (almost unheard of for an underground record). Now five weeks later it still sits in the top 50 and Khen has given it new life with his aptly coined 'Bronzed Re-Edit'. With an indistinct take on the melodies  and new found atmospheric focus, the much loved Israeli artist has crafted another exquisite dance floor gem. It's unique combination of warm ambience and rugged grooves produce a tranquil yet raw beauty. The fifth episode of the microcastle podcast welcomes label artists Chicola & Sahar Z. The Israeli duo have been at the heart of Tel Aviv's electronic music culture for the last 20 years. A collective discography including Bedrock, Lost & Found, Suara and Sudbeat, along with an increasingly busy gig schedule have made Chicola and Sahar two of the underground's most sought after talents. Their recently released 'It Happened One Night EP' enjoyed great success, earning support and play from Hernan Cattaneo, Nick Warren, Guy J, Guy Mantzur, Sasha, Stephan Bodzin, Maceo Plex,  Agents of Time, Pig & Dan, Furcoat and more. The release went on to reach the #1 position in Beatport's electronica chart for six consecutive days, also reaching #6 in the overall Top 100 and #3 and #2 in Techno and Progressive House respectively. 

The art of music programming is somewhat lost in today's younger generation of DJs. Growing up and opening for Danny Tenaglia, Sasha, John Digweed, Laurent Garnier and Carl Craig has instilled this art form in the duos blood. It's something that in over two decades of DJing has remained a huge proponent of their sets. One where each and every gig is an unforgettable journey with electric vibes and captivating sound stories. Although not normally performing together, Chicola and Sahar have prepared a special 80 minute mix for their microcastle podcast. Beginning with an exclusive and unreleased intro version of the duo's 'It Happened One Night', the mix methodically works its way through deep grooves and warm ambient textures, ultimately building to more distinct motifs and melodious techno, before an emotive finale takes you home. Partial Press Release: The 43rd release on microCastle welcomes Brian Cid back to the label for a brand new EP. The NYC based artist has enjoyed much success since his label debut in December of 2014. An EP on Hot Since 82's Knee Deep In Sound and a mini LP on Guy J's Lost & Found Records top his 2015 highlights, while 2016 holds even greater promise with a new project for Cityfox on the horizon. Over the last 12 months Brian's sound has taken on a life of its own, increasingly organic and deeply emotional, the US artist has further stretched his sonic boundaries, with luminaries such as Adriatique, Guy J, Hernan Cattaneo, Joris Voorn, Richie Hawtin and Thugfucker now play listing his music. His return to microCastle has been much anticipated and a quiet start to 2016 has only made his rapidly expanding fan base even hungrier for new material. Brian now presents his second EP for the Canadian imprint entitled 'Belles Du Shaman' alongside a remix from Eagles & Butterflies.

The release begins with the title track and finds Brian carving out one of his most distinctive grooves to date. Layered beats and mystical pads set the piece in motion before an underbelly of warm bass swells fully initiates the journey. Highlighted by soulful vocal stabs the first act strikes an emotive chord, foreshadowing a break of warm harmonies and cinematic tones, ultimately leading to a third act of timely drops and heart-warming rushes. It's one of Brian's most unique creations and not surprisingly it comes from a special place, as he describes "Belles Du Shaman is a musical story of pain & struggle as well as hope & light. The hard drums and synths set the tone for this deep, pulsating and melancholic EP, that drowns in a sea of sounds, touching every weak corner of my heart. When I wrote this track I had just visited the mountains of Utah, more than 10,000 feet up. In a night of music and stars I was moved by how powerful and meaningful a space in time can be. A land that provides us with water, food, shelter... it gives us life as well as meaning. Imagine losing this. How it can impact our life and culture as well as our history and being. The end result of all these feelings and realizations came out in this track."

The sixth episode of the microcastle podcast welcomes label artist BOg. The Romanian born, now France based producer has been one of 2016's most hotly tipped talents. 2015 proved to be a breakout year for BOg with his 'Drawing Board EP' (some of which in conjunction with Jonas Saalbach) getting released on Bedrock as well as appearances on Get Physical and Alex Niggemann's Soulfooled imprint. The year concluded with a remix of the Bedrock classic 'Emerald'. The contemporary melodic number proved to be one of the winter season's biggest records, setting the stage for 2016 and his much sought after and recently released 'Rewired EP', also courtesy of John Digweed's Bedrock Records. BOg made his label debut with us in April delivering a gorgeous remix of Mike Griego's 'Idioglossia'. It's deep, melodic sensibility proved to be a favourite with Hernan Cattaneo who charted the production at #5 in his monthly Top 20 and it also achieved success reaching the Beatport electronica tracks Top 10 while the EP was #1 in Progressive House, #2 in Electronica and #4 in Techno. For the sixth edition of our podcast we're pleased to present an hour and 20 minutes of BOg's set from the Bedrock Easter Showcase at Ministry Of Sound, London just over a month ago. As one of electronic music's most creative talents Joseph Thomas Price aka Third Son has carved out a unique sound all his own. The UK artist has shaped his sonic palette with a variety of influence's and compositional studies which began at a young age. The underground has fallen in love with Joseph's contemporary vision, which resonates through his tough beats, rugged grooves, modern melodies and heavy percussion. It's a sound that's led him to releases on Einmusika, Noir, Sincopat, Selador, Stil Vor Talent and Suara. Now making his long awaited microcastle debut Third Son presents his much anticipated 'Climb to the Sun' EP alongside remixes from Darlyn Vlys. 

The release begins with its title and showcase piece 'Climb to the Sun' which also features Haptic. The Australian vocalist and UK artist have collaborated on several occasions in the past. The studio synergy between the two is quite strong and 'Climb to the Sun' would have to be considered their most sought after creation to date. Anchored by a tough, triplet style groove the piece builds a dark, mystical presence early. It proves to be the perfect foundation for Haptic's vocals which fill the air with warm, nostalgic and utterly charming motifs. A cavernous break continues the dramatic yet deeply emotional storyboard before a wave of metallic melodies lifts the piece to an exhilarating conclusion. There's a compelling story locked inside this one, which has already resonated with Guy J and Guy Mantzur who featured the track on their recent b2b tour and beyond. In the words of Third Son "Climb to the Sun began as an instrumental, originally created as a closing track. The final section was powerful enough to work in a club, but I felt there was something missing to take it to the next level. Haptic’s inspired vocal work solved this."

Chosen as one of Beatport's best tracks of 2016, Third Son's 'Climb to the Sun' returns for the 2017 summer season with a new interpretation from Guy J.  microcastle has become a comfortable home for the Israeli artist since debuting on the label in 2011. Now returning for his fifth appearance, Guy's highly sought-after 'Climb to the Sun' rendition is finally unveiled. 

A deep friendship and mutual respect has developed over time between the Canadian imprint and Guy, and so impressed was he on first hearing  Haptic’s lyrical contribution to the piece that he asked for the parts to create his own mix, showcasing the Australian’s vocal to suit his own DJ sets. The end result is the ‘Guy J Field Trip Remix’, a magical and intricately crafted ten minute journey that has become a near closing track in his sets for the last eight months.

Guy J’s work is always touched with a magic and emotion that few rival. Forever drawing influence from contrasting styles, genres and concepts, he has become synonymous with creating innovative, out-of-the-box productions. Adhering precisely to that ethos, his remix of ‘Climb To The Sun’ embraces his ability to craft music that is perfectly suited to a particular point in an evening’s entertainment. The thoughtful, sparse musical intro provides the perfect backdrop to introduce Haptic’s track-defining and highly reflective lyrical contribution. Every small element within the arrangement holds a unique sonic space, crafted to perfection and precisely positioned to create an evolving and deeply emotive storyboard. It is Haptic’s nostalgic vocals that become the focal point as the music ebbs, flows and melts down to a subtle background throb, before breaking into a delicious, hip-swinging percussive section that perfectly builds anticipation for a cosmic finale. In this sense, it is perhaps a faultless creative lesson from one of the scene’s finest innovators, a true master at work.

Now fresh off collaborations with Tiga and Felix Da Housecat, along with the release of his debut album ‘Television Days’, Clarian makes his microCastle debut with a stunning rendition of ‘Bunk Up’. Synonymous with creating innovative, out-of-the-box productions, the Canadian artist draws on the new wave techno sensibilities of the original, reinventing them in an eccentric blend of 80's nostalgia and quirky psychedelia.

The final composition aptly reflects both artists. ‘Bunk Up’ is an elegant and evocative EP that artfully balances its nostalgic hints with a resolutely modern stimulus.

microCastle’s second offering of 2019 welcomes Speaking In Tongues to the label for their debut EP. Conceptualized by long time friends Miguel Angel and Philip Anthony, Speaking In Tongues was a project born out of love for cutting edge electronic music. Originally meeting almost 20 years ago, after Miguel’s move from Colombia to Philip’s hometown of Los Angeles, the two spent a great deal of time together in various capacities, many of these aligned through a joint musical appreciation. Speaking In Tongues is meant to capture and embrace that cohesive fusion and spread it across the airwaves. The duo’s creative vision has seen them land releases on TAU, Atlant Recordings and My Favorite Robot, while their recent remix of Kauf’s ‘Let It Slide’ was aired by Kölsch on BBC Radio One. Now presenting their first EP project of 2019, Speaking In Tongues make their microCastle debut with ‘Sabbath’, alongside remixes from Mathias Schober and Zombies In Miami.

The ‘Sabbath’ collection is a transcendent blend of desert, eastern and indie-dance motifs, further reinforcing the duo’s nomadic style. Beginning with the deep, cross cultural themes of the title track, the EP then shifts energy to the modular intensity and oriental motifs of ‘Mood Swing’, before eventually melting down into the pulsating, indie-esque psychedelia that is ‘Eraser’. An expansive collection from the Los Angeles duo, one which draws on a variety of inspirations and thus resonates on multiple levels, as they describe.

“During the process of writing this record we had kept in the back of our minds that we wanted to create something diverse enough that each track would be countered by the following, reflecting the differing emotions built around our lives and provoking the question, as David Byrne quite simply put—how did I get here?

We wrote the lead track, Mood Swing, and the title track, Sabbath, back to back—both being inspired by a recent recording session we had done for a local percussionist who was creating an album full of worldly and sound-bath oriented music. Drawn to the sounds he was incorporating, we wanted to keep that same worldly essence while presenting backing elements that had a sense of angst and attitude. Right out of the gates Mood Swing hits you with a steady rhythmic modular-esque bass-line, which was the foundation we laid for the track within the first hour of sitting down. From there, it was easy enough to add the pull and tug of swelling lead synths to capture the bipolar toggle found in the nature of life—ups and downs, highs and lows, strikes and gutters—ahh, the beautiful curse of the artists’ daily mood swing!

Sabbath, we think, will remain a special tune for us. The sort of progressiveness that it lends is a style we flourish in, although not a “genre” we often flex—and perhaps that constitutes its uniqueness. For us, the track immediately conjures images of the Southern California desert and the hypnotic nights we have spent under the stars there, ultimately turning into beautifully strange mornings. Joshua Tree in particular is a special area we make a bi-annual pilgrimage to, and the spirit of that place often leaves its fingerprints on our music—Sabbath being no exception.

Rounding out the record with the final track we wrote for it is Eraser. A touch more light-hearted in nature, we made this one a few weeks after the first two were finished. Drawing influence from the early LA psychedelic scene, you’ll find elements of a Ray Manzarek like keyboard that drifts seemingly off into the aether before humbly crashing down into a driving house beat reminiscent of one of those nights where you may find yourself asking (again): well, how did I get here?”

Hailing from Montreal, the Canadian artist made his label debut in November of last year with ‘Bunk Up’. Well received, the three track artist EP showcased the widescreen appeal of Kevin’s studio repertoire. It’s blend of youthful energy and melodic minimalism found favour with a wide array of the world’s top tastemakers including Ame, Andhim, Dixon, HOSH, Guy J and Sasha. Now following his chart topping fryhide single ‘SITH’, GROJ returns to microCastle for the much anticipated ‘Transmission’. 
 
'Transmission' might be instantly recognizable to some as a nod to Joy Division's celebrated 1979 single. A highlight of GROJ’s live shows for the last two years, this enigmatic take on the track has been much sought after. The Montreal resident injects spirited themes into the piece through pulsating grooves and electric synths, while the main vocal hook sits above with its boisterous, new wave charm. Full of emotion and colour, 'Transmission' sees GROJ at the top of his game. The original version and more so the band was inspirational in GROJ's career early on, as he describes.
 
"Joy Division has always been a favourite of mine, they were one of those bands that inspired me and gave me the confidence to get up on stage and sing when I was a teenager. Listening back to their music one day I just started hearing this club version in my head and was surprised nobody had done it yet. Then I realized that the only obstacle was really to get that vocal loop right, so I tried it myself at and found that I could get into the Ian Curtis vibe fairly naturally with my own voice. I was torn between “Love Will Tear Us A Part” and “Transmission” but ultimately went for the latter. I just found his vocals more penetrating on that one and less sad. Joy Division had a sad ending and I wanted to bring a new light to the music somehow, hopefully it will do the song justice."

Based in Milan, Daniel Tagliaferri aka Ivory is an Italian producer, DJ and guitarist who has enjoyed a rapid ascent through the electronic underground. Long a favourite of Ame, Dixon, John Digweed, Lehar, Nick Warren, Tale Of Us and Trikk, Daniel’s music has found a home on some of the world’s trendiest record labels, most notably Atlant Recordings, Azzur, Bedrock, Chapter 24, Isolate, MoBlack and Kompakt. Now following his critically acclaimed ‘Hyper’ EP, Ivory presents his microCastle debut ‘No Scale Can Resize You’.

Spread across five tracks, the 'No Scale Can Resize You’ collection is a blend of dance floor inspired storyboards and contemporary electronica. "Music is always about storytelling, 'No Scale Resize You' is a collection of short stories where there's not words, they give way to melodies, sounds and percussive elements to sing a song full of grace, delicate groove hypnosis and evocative soundscapes. Every sound has been modeled to create a parallel universe, with magical creatures that speak to us through synths and sound design. Drawing this EP was like a flow of consciousness, many different musical influences converged like rivers to create a unique body of water, one that reflects the soul of these musical tales, dark atmospheres, middle-eastern melodies, robotic beats, dreamy pads, wistful strings and analogic arps; where every part is an element of the same wild land discovered during the listening. An epical journey about strength, bravery, magic, mysticism and love. An island made by incantations and charming, fantastic animals, where you can be a dwarf or a titan, it doesn't matter, every hero has his greatness in the constant search to reach his dreams."

Exclusive Cornucopia - Orion

Cornucopia returns to microCastle for the third time and starts 2020 for the Canadian based label. His latest contribution to the label is Rivers of Memories, a three tracker, which does as its title suggests, it flows down the dance floor avenue. The EP's closer Orion is no exception and probably delivers the most decent yet classy chord arrangement to create an intriguing piece of music, which stays-plays with people's emotions for as long as it lasts and beyond. A lush bassline as well as flickering partly implemented background sounds add Orion even more character as the track's second part of the 8:22 minutes is enriched with icy chord passages that tickle the listener like sharp icicles.

memorable electronic music which sits comfortably in a wide range of inventive spaces, while being favoured by trendsetters such as Ame, Bog, Denis Horvat, Dixon, Fideles, Frankey & Sandrino, Glowal, Lehar and Trikk. 
MULYA remains highly selective with his output, choosing his projects wisely and laying claim to an impressive discography, highlighted by releases on Atlant, Multinotes and Sum Over Histories. Now following an EP for Adana Twins’ TAU imprint to begin the year, MULYA debuts on microcastle with "Chrome Extra" 
Spread across five tracks, MULYA’s microcastle debut is an eclectic blend of electronica, disco, indie-dance and melodic house. Emotionally charged throughout, the journey begins with the broken beats and electric grooves of ‘Out of Sync’. It’s pensive overlays and warped arps make for a compelling first act, before a cinematic break shifts the narrative into a tense yet spirited finale of pulsating rhythms and tantalizing acid hooks. The energy continues to rise with
the disco-infused grooves of ‘Frisco’. Possessing a dramatic undercurrent, punchy kicks and detailed percussion create waves of energy at the outset. Fiery lines add mightily to it’s hypnotic drive, eventually melting down into a canopy of charming overlays. As the breakdown reaches a euphoric peak a flurry of drums transfers
energy into an exhilarating drop and thrilling final movement. 
The spellbinding ‘Espinosa’ further cements MULYA’s elusive vision, as a tight rhythmic core gets complemented with supersonic synths and shuddering bass tones. Compelling and tense, the centrepiece is a sensory delight, with its explorative modulation and piercing build ending in a striking re-entry. Shifting moods further into the indie-dance spectrum is the collection’s title selection ‘Chrome Extra’. A backbone of robust beats sits at the foundation, underpinning a
fascinating meld of retro synths and disorientating projections. Hopeful pads beam brightly across the second movement, bringing a spiritual sense to the storyboard, while perfectly prophesizing a poignant finale that’s destined for many memorable club moments.
Diversifying his portfolio further, it is MULYA’s masterstroke to round the collection out with the electronic experimentalism of ‘Fontane’. Highlighting the seven-minute excursion is an amalgamation of broken beats, vivid soundscapes and sensory saturating artifacts. The best musical mavericks never seem to rest on their laurels or lie stagnant for too long. While continuing to operate at a creative peak they mutate and morph, refusing to be boxed in and thus expanding
their sonic palette. MULYA has accomplished that and more with ‘Chrome Extra’, carrying a unique sonic aesthetic throughout, while achieving a rare balance between such sprawling genres.
