Unglaublich was da mit einem passiert wenn man das hört....Ich  liebe es und danke den DJs von damals, besonders bedanke ich mich bei Herrn TOP, da er sich mit seinem Sound einen festen Platz in meinem Herzen, in meinen Gehirnzellen und in jeder kleinsten Faser meines Körpers gesichert hat. microCastle’s first offering of 2024 welcomes Adrian Roman back to the label for his second artist showcase. Hailing from Spain, Adrian Roman first rose to prominence in 2021 with a string of superlative releases which redefined his sound, resulting in an aesthetic that was both cutting edge and effortlessly cool. Fully formed within the creative confines of his Castello studio, Adrian’s first microCastle project, 2022’s‘ Disturbing the Perception’ succeeded in showcasing his inventive approach to composition, while remaining club-effective, and in turn earning play from Aera, Fideles and Jimi Jules, amongst others. Moving forward the next eighteen months have proved to be impactful for the young Spaniard, recording standout projects for AZZUR and Sum Over Histories, releases which continued to build on his creative acumen, while remaining in the playlists of underground tastemakers Ame and Dixon. With 2024 beginning with Adrian’s latest Sum Over Histories vehicle ‘Oratorical Ability’, the Spaniard now makes a welcome return to microCastle with a six-track showcase entitled ‘This Is What I Was For A Moment’.

From the opening monochromes of ‘Le Sabbat’ Adrian’s craftsmanship reveals itself across this slow-burning piece, one where grating growls, granular flares and panoramic arps ultimately set the pace for the groove-centric ‘Customized Reality’. It’s here where Adrian puts a greater focus on the dancefloor, marrying hopeful vocal phrasing and silky chord stabs for a rejuvenating experience, while a drum-driven drop ultimately charts the course for a finale of deconstructed sonics and post-rave bliss. The haywire electricity of ‘Faces of Belmez’ finds the Spaniard once again flexing his creative muscles, as corrugated bleeps and cataclysmic rhythms provide a vast sense of space, creating the ultimate backdrop for distorted synths to propel choppy rhythms into dark underground passages, and perhaps onto some of the world’s most adventurous dancefloors.

The collection’s midway point is marked by the hypno-architecture of ‘Mind Design’. Trickling reverberations and long sighs of tonal tension wade through its pulsating framework, with frayed effects and thumping rhythms submerged beneath a buzzing panoramic glow. Played by Ame and sitting as one of the project's most enigmatic tracks is ‘TAGDI’ (They Are Gonna Do It). Tinted with contemplative synths and guttural vocals, Adrian’s unique emotionality peaks here, as he crafts a low-slung, slow-building dystopian romance, all while weaving in cerebral manipulations for an unforgettable ride. The mist breaks instantly on the collection’s final piece, as your thrusted into the muscular grooves of ‘Fear Track’. Horrifying vocal stabs strike, leaving the gauzy purple skies of ‘TAGDI’ behind for a more robust romp, one where anabolic basslines, retro-arps and off kilter percussion bring the release to a feverish peak. A fitting conclusion to a diverse collection of music, one where Adrian creates a journey that speaks to the complexities of life against an immersive and challenging backdrop.

Golden Wings Music celebrates their 50th release by welcoming Daniel Curotto to the label for his debut single. Argentinean artist Daniel Curotto has been a fixture of the progressive house underground for the better part of a decade. On the strength of early tracks ‘Rising Sun’ and ‘Far Earth’ Daniel established a groovy nostalgic sound which made him a name to watch going forward. Releases for Mistique Music and Polyptych would follow across the next three calendar years, further establishing Daniel as a progressive house talent. 2023 would see the Argentine rise to greater heights with key projects via Libertas and INU Musica. Now, as Golden Wings celebrates their 50th release and first in almost two years, they welcome Daniel to the label with ‘Mediterraneo’ alongside remixes from (in order of appearance) Gai Barone, Ranj Kaler and East Cafe.

Providing the first interpretation of ‘Mediterraneo’ is Gai Barone who makes his label debut. With an esteemed career stretching the better part of two decades Gai Barone has become one of electronic music’s most sought after artists. The renowned musician and Italian native has long been one of the industry's most fascinating producers. An unrivalled quest for the creation of something uniquely memorable and deeply moving has fuelled his sonic journey. As a true craftsman, it is this drive for excellence that makes each one of Gai’s studio creations met with much anticipation. Afterglow, Bedrock, Lost & Found and more have been landing spots for some of his most notable work, while progressive music trendsetters such as Guy J, Hernan Cattaneo, Nick Warren and more have been steadfast supporters along the way. Now in a year which has already seen Gai deliver projects for Dreaming Awake, Vapour Recordings and his own Patterized imprint, the Italian makes his Golden Wings debut with a sensational remix of ‘Mediterraneo’. The 21st release on microCastle sees the return of legendary electronic music act Spooky to the label for their mammoth 'Polymorph' single. There are very few groups who can claim to be true pioneers; Spooky, however, are. Be it their auspicious debut album ‘Gargantuan' on William Orbit's Guerilla, touring with Aphex Twin, remixing Sven Vath or producing the ‘Involver' projects alongside Sasha , Duncan Forbes and Charlie May have been at the forefront of electronic music their entire careers. Their remix of Monaque's 'Resolutions' from July of 2010 was one of microCastle's most successful releases to date. It saw heavy play from John Digweed and Hernan Cattaneo while enjoying an almost 6 week run in the Beatport charts.

A slow burning anthem: the holy grail of all producers. A tune that keeps building and building momentum gradually and naturally... To the point crowds singing the bassline back when you drop it.

This is the case with Gregor Tresher’s ‘Goliath’. Released February 2015 on Bedrock, it’s been smouldering ever since. The Frankfurt DJ considers it up there with ‘A Thousand Nights’ and ‘About A Good Place’ as one of his most successful tunes in his career so far; its distinctive hooky bass riff capturing moments and imaginations as more and more DJs exploited its unifying charm.

Over two years later, Gregor and Bedrock present two precision-tailored remixes that add to the ‘Goliath’ story. Alan Fitzpatrick, a man who doesn’t need much of an introduction to fans of mordern Techno, subverts the original in a remarkable way. Allowing himself to be taken in a whole new direction by the pads, a new topline and is added to create an entirely new experience that still instantly brings home the original tones and feels of ‘Goliath’.

French techno OG Emmanuel Top, a man whose records inspired Gregor to produce in the first place, takes the lead with a 10 minute monolith that doesn’t even hint at the riff for the first four minutes. Focusing on the machine funk rhythm of the original and turning it inside out, Top lets it sizzle for as long as possible before suddenly dropping the full musical scope of ‘Goliath’ on us mid way.

Remixes that build on the original and take it to entirely new pastures: The momentum continues.
