The 34th release on Citate Forms comes courtesy of Evgeniy Matvienko aka Ezor, with two deep cuts ‘Luvxtazy’ and ‘Tired Road’.   Originally known for being a promoter and DJ in Russia, Ezor now makes the jump into production.  His taste transfers well into his music, with deep bass, techy grooves and a dark atmosphere.  Ezor is also a heavy participant in Citate Forms, being the main curator of their label nights in Russia.

Med School’s most innovative release series returns. Interdimensional waveman Lakeway has mustered up a jukey-jungle hybrid in the form of ‘Lock Off’. Panpipe synths and some big beat steps combine to make the ultimate banger. Keeping things correct is Bristolian serpent Constrict. Choppy snares and flirty 8-bit synth stabs slither together to create ‘Tight Coil’. Both choice cuts for any DJ looking for that D&B curveball.

This internationally spread line-up also features some of Russia’s best D&B exports. A.Fruit’s ‘Tender Love’ is a delectable fusion of footwork and techno rolled into one and Soela’s ‘I Wish You Would Come’ is an ambient spaced out down tempo number.

A myriad of styles from across the globe are the key ingredients for the ‘New Blood 018’ LP. Med School has once again proven its A&R prowess, signalling to the world there is no better home for fresh talent.

The third edition of Microfunk Music’s coveted ‘Lost Dubs’ series is finally here. Featuring 10 rhythmic glitch patterns from the Russian labels usual suspects, you can expect compositions from Synkro, Oak, Hybris, Akuratyde, Dissident, Kharm, Jason oS and of course label boss Bop. The record will be available on all digital and streaming platforms after a week-long exclusive on Bandcamp and will be pressed to a limited run of 100 cassette tapes, which will not last long. With distinguished artwork courtesy of none other than the infamous Trickartt, this is truly a collectors item and not to be missed.

Many things slip through the sands of time, but thankfully these beautiful songs will know no such fate. The introductory ‘Time’ from Manchester's Synkro is laden with a hopeful sadness, as melancholic sonics reverberate beautifully from start to finish. You could be forgiven for thinking this may set the tone for the LP to come, but what follows is a compendium of beautifully crafted musical delights, as varied in character and constitution as the seasons themselves.

A frequent partner of Bop as both a performer and artist, Oak graces the imprint once more with a deep electro cut ‘The Bay’ and tells a down-tempo tale in ‘Airwalk’, which is available to download upon pre-ordering the full LP. Rampant in it’s sheer textural beauty, the likes of Elsewhere follow suit with an expansive and heart-fluttering take on the 170BPM tempo in the form of ‘Procession’. Things take a techy turn as Jason oS delivers an introspective stepper in his ‘Hidden State’, but not before Akuratyde and Kharm weave their own atmospheric wonder ‘Enamoured’.

Although never fearful of pushing the boundaries or confinements within the D&B universe, Microfunk Music remains true to the genre that inspired it with the likes of Hybris injecting his trademark sonics into a sublimely styled technoid roller. Abstract Elements keep things stepping in a similar vein with ‘Throb’, whilst St. Petersburg's very own Dissident enthralls the listener with their hypnotic addition ‘Bathyscaphe’.

Bop has the honour of bowing out the stunning album with a dub-techno pattern ‘In My Dreams’ that traverses the expansive audible palette that so often engulfs Microfunk Music. Incorporating a myriad of moods, the Lost Dubs compilation further cements Microfunk Music as one of the leading purveyors of electronic excellence.

Songs For The Time Being is the debut solo album from Ruckspin (Dom Howard).

Marking his departure from his role as long term producer for Submotion Orchestra, this album re-defines his electronic work, forging a cinematic sound all of his own.

Alongside his early releases on Ranking & Deep Medi, Ruckspin has produced and toured with Submotion Orchestra for over 10 years, engineering, co-writing and producing 5 albums, 3 EPs and a plethora of remixes. The band achieved universal acclaim, performing headline shows at the Barbican, the Forum and Shepherds Bush Empire as well as countless international shows from Belgium to Thailand. Having left the band, Ruckspin is now focussing his efforts on his own studio work, of which this debut album is a shining example.

Ruckspin has always been involved in a number of projects at any one time, whether it be mixing albums for clients, creating bespoke compositions for brands and creatives or just collaborating on projects with other musicians. He worked on 2 albums as Author with J Sparrow that pushed the boundaries of composition and orchestration in dubstep and underground club music, released dub techno as Leo James and has recently found success with some more uptempo tracks on the legendary Hospital records.
Alongside his personal output, Ruckspin also works closely with Ninjatune’s publishing arm, creating award-winning music for sync in film and television with clients including Nike, Heineken, Lipton and IBM.

With all this going on, it’s no wonder it has taken him over 10
years since his first solo release to finally complete a solo album. It features a number of talented guests, from previous collaborators Quark, Ruth Royall (Hospital, Viper, Soulvent) and J Appiah (backing vocals for Jess Glynne and guest on Footsie’s latest album), to specialist virtuosos Ed Thomas (songwriter for Chase & Status, Jorja Smith, Stormzy, Maverick Sabre), Jinadu (Ultra, Anjunadeep, Shogun) and Om Unit (Cosmic Bridge, Metalheadz, 31 Records, Astrophonica).

Overall, the album has a vivid melancholy woven throughout - greatly influenced as much by the moodiness of 90s downtempo and underground club culture, as by the picturesque ambience of classical piano and string quartets. These elements may sound somewhat at odds compared to an average producer's points of reference, but as a child growing up in south-east London in the same era, Ruckspin spent his teenage years playing violin and viola in orchestras, all the while sneaking in minidisc recordings of the previous night’s pirate radio jungle sets. This somewhat unusual musical foundation has clearly had an influence on his unique approach to composition. The end result is an expertly crafted audiophile experience that shows a versatile producer coming-of-age; progressing from rugged sound-system music for dark warehouses to immersive soundscapes for headphone listening, all the while retaining an ear for lush composition and beautiful melody.
