Rings Around Saturn (aka Rory McPike, Dan White) presents six minutes of bottomless rave as arpeggiating bass synths suggest 303s without ever going full acid – the bass tone growls for the entirety of the track while syncopated drip drop synths provide the counter melody. Blasts of white noise remind of nightclub smoke machines and alongside manipulated bird calls contributes to the humidity and density of the tracks overall soundscape.

Ryan James Ford’s productions are rarely anything other than inspired. Through regular releases on Marcel Dettmann Records, Answer Code Request and his own SHUT imprint, Ford has proved to be an exciting producer, capable of mangling sounds and styles to fit his wide-ranging musical vision.
The Berlin-based Canadian arrives on Happy Skull with a label debut that dramatically emphasizes the point. While each of the four tracks features audible nods to a wealth of influences and inspirations, the bold individuality of the resultant cuts all but renders such comparisons redundant.
For example, EP opener “Ormst Kaban”, whose wild, crashing, off-grid breakbeats and twisted, foreboding electronics aggressively spar with glacial chords and icy textures. The 16 bit arpeggio lines of 'Hobrv Kegdit' are underpinned by powerful sub-bass tones and industrial drum-breaks that merge to create a densely sprawling mass of dance floor melancholia.
This pattern continues throughout the EP, with “Slown Ridel” and “Nos Ummi” balancing skittish, noise-seeped percussion with the dreamy, glassy-eyed swell of classic ambient and pioneering early ‘90s IDM.

Musique Pour La Dance is thrilled to release the set played by Voiron at the 2015 edition of Weather Festival in Paris. Entrusted with the festival’s chill out stage for the sunrise slot, the Paris-based artist created a live set specially for the occasion. It turns out that this set was the highlight of Weather for many festival-goers and it has already reached somewhat of a legendary status in the French scene and beyond.

Connecting the dots between the approaches of artists such as Aphex Twin, Legowelt and Future Sound of London to name a few, Voiron’s music has always been about blending influences from braindance, acid house and techno, proper electro, early rave, early hardcore and 90’s dance music in his very own idiosyncratic style. Blending 303s, M1s, silly samples and brilliant hooks is this artist’s signature, and what a delight it is to spend some time with this sincere and unpretentious set full of great musical moments, full of familiar sounds and unexpected twists and turns. Wholehearted, sincere, bold, boundless and debonair, here are a few words to describe this wonderful live set released in a limited run of cassette tapes for all the bedroom and car stereo ravers and space cadets out there, along with the usual digital formats. The release is accompanied by a Bandcamp exclusive extended edit of Jewharp Voiron by Musique Pour La Danse co-manager Ed Isar.
