Having some fun in The Lab Brushing the dust off a gorgeous 1969 Solartron JM1861 Pseudo Random Signal Generator... 

Made by blending a few layers of a lab sine oscillator being modulated by the weighted analog output of the 1861 at various probability distributions and clocking rates along with layers of various raw digital sequences fed through the built in low pass filter at various settings.  Recorded hot onto my much loved 1967 Mk III Revox G36 tube half-track 1/4" tape machine.

...and no, the noise isn't tape hiss.. :-]

Stranger MME

Live noodling on a 1995 Aviator rackmount analog monosynth by Exclusively Analogue following repairs in The Lab at Hideaway Studio. 

The Aviator features three Curtis CEM3340 based VCOs driving two multimode filters in parallel - both SEM based with an additional SSM2044 based low pass filter and capable of a suprising amount of modulation and routing capabilities thanks to its semi-modular design.

An improvised montage of sounds recorded live from 1938 Hammond Novachord No.346 shortly after partial restoration to working order by vintage synth specialist D.A.Wilson in the UK in 2009.  It is very rare to hear a direct modern recording (non-acoustic through chorus/delay/reverb directly from the generator chassis)of one of these instruments in action as less than 50 remain in known working order.

The Novachord is generally accepted to be world's first commercial all electronic polyphonic instrument featuring dynamics control and specifically designed to emulate timbres beyond those of an organ such as strings, harpsichord and piano.

Slovenian electro master Zeta Reticula has been on the rampage over the past few years, spraying machine funk bullets all over the shop on labels like Electrix and Mechatronica. Now the man otherwise known as Umek lands on the rapid-rising Latvian label Blind Allies with the first dedicated artist EP after a string of various artist 12"s. The vibe is nocturnal and noirish across these five bombs, staying true to both the Reticula sound and Blind Allies. There are plenty of playful synth blips and bleeps wriggling their way through the mix too - this is far from morose dungeon electro, but something more like mutant body poppers for darkened souls.
