The Ladybugs are a traditional jazz vocal group known for their intricate harmonies and experimental arrangements. Lead by Martina DaSilva, all members of the band sing while playing ukulele, guitar, trombone, bass, and drums. The Ladybugs’ repertoire includes favorites from the 1920s, ‘30s, and ‘40s, infused with old-school swing, country, and blues. The band has received high praise for recent performances at Jazz At Lincoln Center’s Generations in Jazz Festival, the NY Hot Jazz Festival, and the NYC Winter Jazzfest. With a sound that attracts all audiences, The Ladybugs effortlessly keep listeners smiling and moving.

Max Hype, aka Protohype, has taken the world of bass music and made it his own personal playground. The heavy hitting producer combines ingenious progressions and percussion with roof toppling bass lines for a must hear sound that leaves fans around the world with necks breaking. Releasing on major labels such as Firepower, SMOG, Spinnin’ Records and more, not to mention boasting a discography of over 100 original creations, Protohype has become a staple in the bass music community. Developing his #puppycrew brand, Max uses his loyal fan base to give back, throwing charity events to help fund no kill animal shelters. With an original sound, kind heart and a knack for getting a crowd roaring for more, Protohype has become one of bass music’s most loved talents.

Asthmatic Kitty Records is an independent record label that was co-founded by Lowell Brams and his stepson, singer-songwriter Sufjan Stevens, in 1999. Since its founding, AKR has released albums by a variety of artists, including Lily & Madeleine, My Brightest Diamond and Helado Negro, and is currently home to Sufjan Stevens, Angelo De Augustine, Denison Witmer and The Welcome Wagon. 

Asthmatic Kitty was named after Sara, an orange and white tabby who wandered out of the woods pregnant and starving near Holland, Michigan in 1994. For fourteen years she brought joy as a beloved friend to Lowell, enjoying a happy life despite her initial hardships. Her asthma improved after moving west to New Mexico and Wyoming, where she lived out her days as an asthmatic kitty in name only.
