VLAD originally cut his teeth in the Croatian techno scene before making his mark here in  Dublin. In a relatively short amount of time, VLAD has gone from digging in the crates on his first day in Dublin to now being a cornerstone of the techno scene in Dublin.

VLAD has held down residencies in clubs such as Berlin D2 & Pygmalion. You may have also seen VLAD in the dark rooms of District 8 and Index supporting some of the heaviest hitters in the industry such as Craig Richards, Ame, Radioslave & Ryan Elliot or on the festival circuit up & down the country.

As well as killing his own sets on a regular basis, VLAD has given back to the upcoming DJ's with his OPEN DECK series, in Berlin D2's basement.   

This mix takes many twists and turns on a mind-warping hypnotic hour of techno music, slap on your best headphones and strap in for +8% two-step action.

ZOID Sessions - Luke Farey

Episode 33 speaking to instrumental Techno producer CJ Bolland! He's realeased some of the most iconic electronic tracks ever made, including The Prophet, Camargue and Tower Of Naphtali - as well as doing a remix on the Prodigy's No Good single and many others for the likes of Depeche Mode, Orbital, Moby and New Order. 

He made the title track for the 90s clubbing film 'Human Traffic' - 'It Aint Gonna Be Me' with one of his greatest dancefloor tracks on the B-Side: Desolate 1. His track 'Sugar Is Sweeter' got the remix treatment from Armand Van Helden and became a worldwide dancefloor hit.  

We discuss his early influences, his musical journey and the people, studios and stories which formed his incredible and influential sound.

Gościem czwartego odcinka serii rozmów i podcastów jest @kubachateau - DJ, organizator i promotor stacjonujący w Krakowie. Kuba jest współzałożycielem labelu Wodawater, połową duetu Château Shatter oraz współkuratorem cyklu wydarzeń WODA i Entrance, gdzie występowali m.in. Laksa,  Alienata, Celestial Trax, Morah, VTSS, T A K A czy Nastya Muravyova. Jako DJ ma na koncie występy w większości najważniejszych klubów w Polsce (m.in. w Warszawie, Wrocławiu, Katowicach, Białymstoku czy Łodzi), jak również streamingi promujące Wodawater w Nowym Jorku (Halcyon) oraz Kijowie (20ft Radio). W pandemicznym 2020 r. współtworzył samopomocową inicjatywę Pop Up Radio, która z platformy spotkań online dla lokalnych artystów przeobraziła się w multidyscyplinarny i zaangażowany społecznie projekt.</span>

Jego sety to bardziej ”Pora na przygodę!” niż “Gambit królowej”: spontan bierze górę nad strategią. W zależności od sytuacji (i ilości miejsca w walizie) miesza w nich w różnych proporcjach techno, electro, trance, breaki czy EBM. W świetle dnia nie stroni od łagodniejszych brzmień, co niektórzy mogą pamiętać z WDWTR Radio i niedzielnych miękkich lądowań na kocach i leżakach na letniej Scenie przy Pompie. (Zazwyczaj) wierny winylom: tropi na nich dziwy natury, pioruny kuliste, łabędzie śpiewy i delfiny albinosy. W czystych klubach czuje się nieswojo.

Tim Wright has had an expansive career as a composor and sound designer working on video games as far back as the VIC-20. He later went on to score Lemmings, Shadow of the Beast 2,  and the era-defining Wipeout series while working at Psygnosis - where his tracks played alongside The Prodigy, The Chemical Brothers, Orbital, FSOL, Photek, Leftfield and others. 

Post Psygnosis, he was part of Jester Interactive Limited who produced MUSIC - Music Creation for the PlayStation; a ground breaking music making program for the masses which was followed by Music 2000 and then MTV Music Generator on the Playstation 2.  He was also part of the eJay music software team, designing a new version of the dance & hip hop eJay music software for Empire Interactive.

Fiona Brice has a wealth of experience across a spectrum of musical adventures - from touring for 10 years with Placebo to creating arrangements for and performing with  the likes of John Grant, Anna Calvi, Jay-Z, Kayne West, Liam Gallagher, Kelly Jones, and many many more. 

She released her solo album 'Postcards From...' in 2016 on Bella Union, and there will be a follow up next year once the vinyl is ready to ship. She explains how she stays healthy on tour, what an orchestral fixer does, and what it's like to bridge the gap between artists and "classically trained" orchestras.

James Wiltshire's skills and dedication as a producer have taken him to collaborate with and remix for the biggest artists in the world, including Beyonce, Kelly Rowland, Shakira, Faith Evans and more. He was Grammy nominated as part of the Freemasons duo with Russel Small - known for creating stunning pop productions set firmly for the dancefloor. 

He's since produced and remixed under his F9 moniker for more huge artists - including Will Young, Alanis Morisette, Kylie Minogue and more. He now runs F9 Audio; providing world class production instruments and sounds for producers to use in their own music. James is a huge gear fan with an immense knowledge of the music industry, and an unparallelled oulook on it all.

‘One sec, we need to get some chips in him before his set’ Sisu maingal and Loose Lips affiliate Malissa told me, as she pulled my new, joyfully drunk Northern friend away from the bus stop. A couple of hours later I was the drunk one, bouncing up and down in Five Miles’ packed sideroom as Kortzer - now fully functional - dropped Boy Harsher’s Westerners and Charlie’s Spacer Woman, a brief 80s section of a set that slid around genres with reckless abandon, providing the crowd with a perfect alternative to the main room’s thundering techno. Aside from demonstrating a gorgeously varied record crate, this also showed off the wiley knowhow Kortzer has developed in his years on the scene. 

A lesser - or more pretentious -  DJ would have stuck to their own 4x4 guns, particularly if they had spent as many hours as Kortzer has gathering rough’n’ready techno in record stores such as Manchester’s Eastern Bloc, or perfecting its sound with a furrowed brow (having studied music production at the city’s ‘School of Electronic Music’). Not this bloke; ever since the DJ (real name Dave Clarke) was gifted a set of disused decks and a mixer by a friend of a friend, he has been a team player, warming up mates’ houses before before graduating to play his first residency aged 18, developing a style that slides away from his beloved techno into EBM, Jungle, Hardcore and more whenever the mood calls for it. 

As the years and experiences roll on, his collaborative spirit has been particularly demonstrated in his roles outside the DJ booth. As the head of the Loose Lips’ Manchester branch, his roles are as varied as the collective's world is, co-running the label, organising and DJing at their northern events and hosting the Loose Lips radio show on Reform radio. Perhaps the best demonstration of his attitude is the regular Kortzer’s Sunday Jams feature he writers for Loose Lips’ blog, consistently sharing music with the same enthusiasm and warmth he brings across the board.
