This week we have a something special from one of our favourite producers. Berlin based Santé consistently delivers inspiring house music with colour and character, always experimenting with new ideas but never overcomplicating the mix. The Avotre label head has delivered something special exclusively to i-D. Steering away from the weight of the peak time music press play on 60 minutes of the deeper side of Santé.

“I recorded this mix at home, straight after playing an extended morning set at watergate. I wanted to capture that special sunrise afterhour mood, and record something more relaxed than a banging techno mix. All the tracks I used for this mix have some moody elements, whether in the synths, the vocals or the beats, that are totally unique.The process of recording my album 'Current' was similar - more song driven and diverse to my peak time sets."

Forty-two months can be a lifetime in the rapidly changing world of dance music, but the 3 ½ years since Maya Jane Coles’ previous Mobilee release, 2011’s “Beat Faster,” has seen the UK DJ/producer accumulate unprecedented accolades from all corners of the dance music sphere, from magazine covers and reader poll placement to premier league bookings and regular play by her esteemed house music peers 

Having seamlessly transitioned from buzz-heavy newcomer to perennial favorite, Maya returns to Mobilee with three tracks in her unmistakable style, one that has only become more potent with practice on releases by Dogmatik, Hypercolour, Jackathon Jams, 20:20 Vision and her own I/AM/ME label. “From the Dark” picks up perfectly where “Beat Faster” left off, with the addition vocalist Moggli only adding more spice to the bubble tech house stew. Proof that as fast as Maya’s star has shot, there’s still plenty of sky left to travel.

The EP opens with 'Heaven', a gospel vocal, piano-laden house beauty. Think classic soulful house with a whole heap of church up in the mix. The EPs second track 'Hold Me In Your Arms', with its long breakdown, has Summer festivals written all over it. We can't wait to play this one in Croatia! On the flip, another newcomer, K.98, takes 'Heaven' up a notch and turns it into serious peak time territory.
