back in January we were contacted by Glasgow Underground about reworking something from Romanthony’s back catalogue. Growing up in northern England in the 90s and immersed in dance music it wasn’t uncommon to hear Romanthony tracks such as Ministry of Love, Hold On or The Wanderer (Journey Man Thump) pumping from shops, passing cars or bars. Even our parents would have heard his vocal work with Daft Punk on ‘One More Time’ and knowing the labels previous Romanthony reworks from the likes of Dixon, Andres, Rob Mello, Gerd and Deetron we were interested to get involved.
 
We chose to rework Trust and got to work over the next few months. Then in May, shortly after submitting our version to the label we heard the news that Romanthony had tragically passed away at the age of just 46 from complications related to kidney disease.
 
Whilst we didn’t know Romanthony a.k.a Anthony Moor personally, losing someone - even a distant peer can really make you think, especially at such a young age. Of course the remix suddenly seemed pretty irrelevant, and we pondered with the label over what to do about it. Now over 6 months later the time feels more right and we’re happy to announce our rework will be released on 9th December alongside versions from Motor City Drum Ensemble, Freeform Five and label boss Kevin McKay. In memory of Anthony we will be donating half our royalties from this record to Kidney Research UK. Hope you enjoy...

A well wise decision! He style fuses elements of Garage, Old School and Deep House and is very much UK inspired. Bang! Is Jacob B the Robert Lewandowski of House/Garage?

The release schedule was simply closed and we had no intention of squeezing more releases into early 2013, but when we heard this fantastic 2-tracker from ReKreation we simply had to over-rule the decision.

ReKreation are originally from Manchester (UK) but are now based and in the sparkling house-infused environment of Leeds (UK) and you can easily hear the uk garage inspiration at the root of their sound.
Hypnotic grooves and simple vocal hooks leads the way on this housey number. For us it was love from first listen and by now the tracks have grown into our hearts.

The remixes comes from Swizz wonderboy Dj Le Roi (Get Physical, Katchuli, 1Trax) who turns “Control” deep and bouncy with London based Leftwing & Kody (Off Recordings, Alive) giving “Before Me” a more in your face deep house remix.

We here at No Brainer headquarters are pretty sure this will change after the opening track of Headz Up's debut EP 'Talk Talk' hits the floors of the world. This dramatic piece of rhythmically superior techno is just too good to not name your newborn after it.

Mason (Animal Language) straightens 'Onoria' out, turning it into relentlessly driving car. Actually, 'Onoria' might be a better car name than a girl's name. No doubt it's a good track name.

'Talk Talk' is an even better track name if you ask me and it fits great with the triplet-tainted vocoder track, which is why the EP is named 'Talk Talk EP'. You can almost sing along to the track while you headbang to it.

Borussia (Top Billin) makes 'Talk Talk' into a kickdrum-obsessed techno anthem. This pretty much defines what No Brainer Records is all about: very stupid intelligent music for very intelligent stupid people.

Another great name for another great track is 'Pluvia', which means rain in Latin. Think synthetic raindrops recorded, looped and then scratched into a haunting rhythm. Tribal techno funk for acid Headz Up … just to drop that name again.
