Dead-Tones, Of the Moon & Nasser (US) unite for a raw, intimate EP on Sum Over Histories. Born from turbulent times, these tracks capture genuine studio moments with minimal processing and live feel. "Wake Up" blends acoustic guitars with SH-101 synths, while "Where Do We Go" features Nasser's vulnerable vocals. Echonomist provides a refined remix, adding his Innervisions-honed touch to this deeply personal collaboration.

Up next are Austrian / German based @Jorkes with a special mix promoting their upcoming Queer Base charity compilation release on self managed label @FreerideMillenium. The flamboyant duo have been on our radar for sometime now and we're delighted to support the coming release.  You can read more about their approach to music, parties, inspirations and social justice via the interview below. 'The mix is a colourful bouquet of various songs out on the 'Freeride Millenium presents Queer Base“ charity compilation such as Massimiliano Pagliara, Benjamin Fröhlich, Sedef Adasi, Modular Project, Cantor that we are going to release on July 30th. It also contains some goodies we thought match the breeze and direction of the journey such as Alinka, Club Tularosa and Ultra Nate. There is also some unreleased stuff inside by us and ROTCIV' .

He enjoys the freedom of having the time to focus on his music – these days he even has more than last year and last year was already a strong one in Juan MacLean's career in terms of producing music, which – unfortunately – is or was released on labels like Correspondant, Aus Music or Riotvan just when the pandemic hit and brought societies down to its knees. This, however, does not hold the New Yorker back from having, according to him, the most productive time and (re)discovering and concentrating on certain preferences in music, that he processed in his art:cast. Above Juan, how close friend's call John, talks about a possible future of club culture, New York landlords, the benefits of live-streams, the perfect banana bread as well as of how he spends his days and what routines he's developed over the past couple of months – in an honest and straight forward manner, just as he seems as a person, just as his music is.

What is Rebetiko [Ρεμπέτικο]?
Rebetiko grew out of the music of the displaced Greeks of Asia Minor, who thrived in the poor and struggling neighbourhoods of Piraeus, a port city in the region of Attica (now Athens). This new music genre was born as a form of artistic expression for the Lumpenproletariat of post-war Greece in the first part of the 20th Century.

The roots of the genre originate in Asia Minor (with Smyrna as the main focus point). In his book “The History of Rebetiko”, Nikos Sideris states: “Rebetiko was born in Asia Minor. Rebetiko with bouzouki was born in Piraeus”.

Stevie R is a London-based producer at the top of his game...
He continues to push these creative boundaries through his output, collaborations and his labels, Inside Out Records, of which he is the founder, and on Chapter 24, for whom he does A&R. The latter imprint released his last mini album, a two-part release that features collaborations with Parisinos and Anna Maria X, both of which further explore the signature Rebetronica sound that he's coined.
