A bit about the track:

Our best work usually comes together organically, and “Numbers" was no exception.
We invited our friends Pat Lok and Ekali to come and work with us in our East Van studio and presented a group challenge: we would try and write as many song ideas as possible in a day and would never spend more than 45 minutes on something before moving on.
It was a crazy musical whirlwind of a day. Later that night, we listened back to everything we had done, and one idea in particular stuck out because Shaddy’s rough vocal melody just seemed so infectious….
The lyric was “you've got my number don’t make me wait” - how many times have you found yourself in a situation where you’ve managed to connect with somebody that really intrigues you, but end up sitting around waiting for them to hit you back?
In the following weeks, we ran with this idea lyrically and jumped deep into production, a process that turned out to be one of the most enjoyable sessions we've had this year. Shaddy got to experiment with big vocal stacks, we recorded a ton of live percussion (timbales, clavas, cowbells and random metal objects), and combined a classic 4 on the floor beat with some filtered out house inspired synths. We feel it's the perfect way to wrap up 2015 and hope you enjoy it.

We're excited to drop this track.
As we're constantly developing our live show, we've been looking at adding in older songs we've written and performing them in new ways. We took this vocal from one our favourite tracks we wrote back in 2012 and completely remade the instrumental specifically to fit in a live context. Coincidentally we've also been playing it in the club and its been going off pretty well.
The concept is about a relentless quest for nightlife and how it'll probably end up killing you in the process. Something some us of can definitely relate to.
Besides speeding up the tempo of the original, we added a new bass line, new drums, and Shadi slaying it with the lead synth in the drop. This is one of Waspy's favourite songs, and considering it's also his birthday today and we're performing our first home town Vancouver show in a couple years, the timing and synchronicity doesn't get much better.

Toronto's JNYR represents one of the brightest emerging prospects out of a burgeoning R&B scene that already includes heavyweights such as The Weeknd and Tory Lanez. Having released only three singles to-date, JNYR showcases a raw, youthful energy with the class and elegance of yesterday's legends.
