Greek and Colombian, native Miami born DJ, Mavris follows her passion through the beats of Micro House and Deep Tech. At a very young age, Mavris was introduced to the underground Minimal scene in Athens and Mykonos, Greece in which she was deeply inspired to begin mixing. A usual in the Miami nightlife, Mavris was exposed to an array of international DJs and sounds that fluttered her ears and expanded her selection of House and Tech Music. Later on Mavris transitioned in creating her own sounds through music production. She studied at Dubspot New York and has performed at different parties in Miami’s nightclubs. Mavris’ creativity and dedication without a doubt evokes powerful emotions through her sounds.

Sydney Blu’s career can be considered a journey of evolvement. With a tremendous passion for live performance, music production, and all-around artistic creativity, Sydney’s constant determination shines brightly through her accomplished Dj career. With beginnings in Toronto Canada playing for The Guvernment Nightclub, Footwork Nightclub, and the LGBTQ2S+ community, then following 6 years in the United States touring the continent and the globe, all the way to her recent life in Berlin Germany, 

 In 2009, A proudly Canadian artist, Sydney Blu founded her imprint, Blu Music, on the principle of authentic, dancefloor-rich house and techno, the following year she extended her brand to another branch introducing her legendary Blu Party series which curates some of the greatest names of the underground house. On top of that, Sydney has released music on some of the most recognized labels in the industry including Hot Since 82’s Knee Deep in Sound, Adam Beyers & Drumcode’s Truesoul, Steve Lawler’s VIVa Music, Desert Hearts Records, and more. Her release "Give It Up For Me” on Mau5trap earned Sydney a #1 hit on Beatport for over 3 months. With multiple top ten records since then, Sydney continues to chart every year including another recent top ten “MindGames” on Hot Since 82’s Knee Deep in Sound which was premiered by Billboard Magazine.

Perhaps her most fully realized body of work to date, Conviction earned her a JUNO nomination for Electronic Album of the Year and climbed to the top of Beatport Top 10 in Afrohouse, Deep House, Minimal House, Melodic, and Tech House. Her lead singles Conspiracy, Temple, and To the Ground were playlisted on Electronic Rising, Organica, and Housework. The LP also received media praise from outlets Mixmag, 6am Group, Data Transmission, Electronic Groove, Musicis4lovers, Beyond Fashion Magazine, HOLR Fashion Mag, and garnered radio play from Danny Howard of BBC Radio 1, Sirius XM Radio, and CBC Radio 1’s George Stromboulopou-los.

In late 2021 Sydney launched the #23by23 campaign with the help of Native Instruments and a run of A-list record labels. The campaign's aim is to encourage labels to increase their percentage of female producers to 23% or more by the end of 2023. Sydney has also taken #23by23 around the globe speaking about the importance of diversity on dance labels this past year at the Amsterdam Dance Event, International Music Summitt (Ibiza) and Berlin Dance Event.

One of Sydney’s greatest accomplishments to date has been her recent successful advocation for a new category at Canada’s largest award show ‘The JUNO Awards’. For four years, Sydney gathered Canada’s top managers, agents, publicists, festival owners, club owners and artists in dance music to help urge The Canadian Academy of Arts and Sciences to make a new award that represents the origins of electronic music called ‘Underground Dance Single of the Year’. The category was successfully accepted by the JUNO’s in June 2021 and presented its first award in 2022 with Sydney Blu as its Chairwoman.

With no signs of slowing down, expect many new upcoming releases from Sydney Blu in 2023 and a full touring schedule.

Heute präsentiere ich euch mit großer Freude diese Ode an den Sommer, von meiner ganz besonderen und lieben Freundin Gina Sabatini. 

Es ist gerade Mal ein ¾ Jahr her das sich Gina und ich an einem Sonntag im November im gemütlichen Beate Uwe auf ein Bierchen und ein paar Schnäpschen getroffen haben. Es gibt so Begegnungen die hinterlassen einen bleibenden Eindruck und so ist es nicht verwunderlich das Gina nun zu einen meiner besten Freunde zählt und fester Bestandteil der tollen Afterhour Sounds Family geworden ist.

An diesem Abend hatten Gina und ich auch ein langes Gespräch zum Thema DJ-Frauen, Feminismus und wie wir Männer die Gleichberechtigung in der Elektro-Szene vorantreiben können und müssen. Ein Satz ist mir nachhaltig im Gedächtnis geblieben „Feminismus und Gleichberechtigung muss ganz klar auch von euch Männern ausgehen“ soll heißen Frauen müssen sich nicht ihren Platz erkämpfen sondern wir Männer müssen dafür sorgen ihnen den Freiraum zur Verfügung zu stellen und zwar in allen Bereichen. Darüber hab ich viel nachgedacht und dies hat auch maßgeblich zu meinem Entschluss geführt meine Podcast-Serie nun auf 50/50 umzustellen. Ab Ginas Podcast präsentiere ich euch nun gleichberechtigt Musik von Frauen und Männern, da es in der heutigen Zeit keinen Grund mehr gibt es anders zu machen. Danke Gina fürs Augen öffnen. 

Gina hat mich bereits mit ihrem ersten Set „Zusammen auf, Mensch Meier“ musikalisch völlig in ihren Bann gezogen. Sie hat einfach ein schon fast unheimlich gutes Gespür für Sound-Arrangements. Wie keine andere versteht sie es mit Musik eine komplexe Geschichte zu erzählen und legt genau in diese Geschichte ihr ganzes Herz rein. Respekt. Nicht verwunderlich das Gina genau damit diesen Sommer genau den Nerv der Dancefloors getroffen hat. Neben diesem grandiosen Gardenlegen Set sind ihre Mitschnitte von der Fusion und vom Garbicz einfach absolut auf den Punkt.

Liebe Gina ich bin hoch erfreut das uns die Musik zusammengebracht hat und bin mir sicher, dass wir beide noch viele traumhafte Momente zusammen erleben dürfen, weil wir fangen ja gerade erst an ;-)
