This is Vacation On The Sun, nestled in comfortably in the niche of Electronic Alternative with a hammock and a sloe gin fizz.  The conception of VOTS started with the most unlikely meeting between guitarist Todd Deguchi (Dime Store Hoods, 3rd Strike) and vocalist Mike Biscotti (Million Dollar Mouth).  3rd Strike’s lead singer tragically passed away in early 2010, right about the time Million Dollar Mouth called it quits, leaving Deguchi and Biscotti looking for new co writers to work with.  Mike cast out a life line and found Todd on his first try.  They began sending sound fragments to each other online and wrote three songs together before they even spoke to each other on the phone.  Once they got in a room together there was no stopping the eruption of songs. 

Within 6 months they had amassed two albums worth of material and began the process of finding their rhythm section.  Deguchi and Biscotti come from a strong rock background, so their first instinct was to put together a standard five piece rock band.   They quickly found that working with programmer True:129 (Supreme Beings of Leisure, Bitter:Sweet)  was all the rhythm section they needed to round out the sound that would later be called “the ideal summer mix while driving to your favorite club on the Sunset Strip.”  Their singles “Throwing Fits” and “Summer Has Come” deliver the beats you need to move your bones while at the same time indulging in the kind of ear candy that may leave you feeling a little guilty that you want at least three or four helpings before you move on to the next cut.  Todd Deguchi provides the lush and spacious guitar lines weaving beautiful and tasteful harmonies over True:129’s deep old skool grooves.  He is generously dropping beats right where you want them, making them perfect for the club bangers or the head phone snoozers.  Mike Biscotti has a unique glam-croon quality that offers a surprising and refreshing vocal style.  His lyrics from song to song display a vast emotional range.  He conveys the kind of intimacy that draws you in like the start of movie with a character you can’t wait to know what their back story is. 

No matter what kind of comparison you try to make to them, there is no question that Vacation On the Sun has listeners turning their heads to a group that is truly in a class of its own.  The trio can only continue to make new ground when the formula is so fresh until others begin to imitate it.  Their first EP “Summer Has Come” due out in August 2011 features production contributions by Jim Wirt (No Doubt, Incubus, Fiona Apple) and Darian Rundall (Pennywise, Yellowcard, Veruca Salt).
