Slow It Down are two Glasgow based DJ/producers who joined musical forces through a mutual love of obscure Boogie, Disco, House and Red Stripe lager. 

Their unhealthy obsession with the 80′s leaves them constantly reworking ignored soul and disco gems for the modern dancefloor. 

Their handiwork can be found in the records bags of tastemakers like Greg Wilson, MANIK and 6th Borough Project amongst others, recently getting played out on Annie Mac’s BBC Radio One show and KISS FM shows worldwide. 

Recent releases 'Crush and 'I Don't Need' with Elijah Collins have topped the Juno and Beatport Sales Chart - with first full length EP 'Alright' being supported from some of the scenes biggest players  - on Ruben and Ra's 'Retrospective' label - while recently performing alongside Tiger and Woods, Retro/Grade and Hot Creations’ Waifs and Strays in recent months.

ODISSEA (Finisterre, 2018)

Odyssey is the title of the band's new recording project that explores the sounds of North African music that the band has been practicing for some time. The original inspiration, born from the collaboration with the many artists met along the way in concerts and festivals, has been enriched by extensive research and targeted listening, and has led to a combination of the sounds of wind section and " organetto" (which recalls south Italy and the Balkans) with the gnawa rhythms and a sinuous 'Saharan'- inspired electric guitar.

The original lyrics, a combination of myth and current events, tell the stories of migrants (as in Odissea and Migrante), sometimes with irony (L'idea), other times in a poetic language (Stella della notte). The Odyssey of Ulysses is trapped in the figure of the migrant, who plows the seas to find himself or to improve his life conditions. The Mediterranean has always been the sea of ​​returns, this fully reflects in the stylistic elements found in Bandadriatica's work: sounds coming from apparently distant countries mix together and unveil their common origin; the music travels simultaneously forward, driven by the experimentation, and back in time, in search of their identity.

Transported by the swirling winds that illuminate the coasts of the eastern sea, the BandAdriatica rages on the agitated waves of Salento music with elements of all the Mediterranean sonic coasts as a complex "Babylon", where the languages ​​begin to harmonize on the popular melodies in the mestizo fervor of the harbours.
That's how the Apulian traditions take on a new resonance, starting from the frantic echoes of Salento music found in the sounds of folklore festivals, processions, funerals, serenades and night trips, taking it from country to country in ten years of research on the common musical matrices of the banks of the Adriatic Sea, reflecting themselves in the music of Albania, Macedonia, Croatia, the Serbian fanfare, North Africa and pushing up to the eastern Mediterranean.

The performance of the band has fascinated the critics at Babel Med 2017 in Marseille who defined it as "one of the best proposals of the whole Festival" and "one of the best Italian live-act".

BandAdriatica has collaborated with artists such as Bombino, Mercan Dede, Rony Barrak, Savina Yannatou, Chieftains, Burhan Ochal, Kocani Orkestar, Boban Markovic Orchestra, Fanfara Tirana, Eva Quartet and Cafer Naziblas.

Vocalist Kellylee Evans continues to evolve her distinctive sound with her newest release Nina. This Juno and Gemini Award nominee received accolades for her first two albums, Fight or Flight and The Good Girl, which seamlessly fuse jazz and her own unique style of "soul pop". Nina, her new release, is a beautiful tribute to one of jazz's greatest vocalists and pianists, Nina Simone.

The Canadian singer was approached by French label Plus Loin Music, who had discovered her through her 2nd place win at the Thelonious Monk Jazz Vocals Competition. After several years of discussion, they invited her to France in November of 2009, where she spent two days in the studio. "They said I could do whatever I wanted as long as it was standards" Evans recalls. "I had always wanted to do a Nina Simone tribute. She was one of my mom's favourites, and my husband's, and I love her too. So I chose her and they were really gung ho."

Evans' love and respect for the original recordings of the music shines through, but, even in taking on some of Simone's most iconic repertoire, the twelve tracks on the album showcase Kelly's own versatility, creativity and innate musicality. She is reunited with guitarist Marvin Sewell (Jason Moran, Cassandra Wilson), who appeared on her first album, and joined by bassist François Moutin (Moutin Reunion Quartet, Rudresh Mahanthappa), and drummer André Ceccarelli (Dee Dee Bridgewater, Biréli Lagrène).

Resounding with admiration for Eastern European styles and vitality they will fill your ears with Balkan Stomp madness with their performances of original music, Roma favourites and the haunting echoes of Armenian and Macedonian Folk melodies. 

The name dates back to their birth on a Barge on a Mancunian Canal four years ago and since then this explosive band have entertained crowds throughout the UK including gigs at WOMAD 2015, Boomtown Fair Festival, The Invisible Circus, Hot Club de Swing as well doubling their street cred in a collaboration with Beatboxer Jason Singh for The Rubber Duck Beatbox Orchestra.
