Before we breakthrough, we must face the breakdown. What is breaking down in your life?

When something breaks down, it provide us with an opportunity to observe, respond, grow and breakthrough to a new way of not just surviving, but thriving in life.

In this dance, you are invited to hold the image of what is breaking down in your life. It could be something external in your world, or a long held belief. Let it express itself in your dance. Give it form, give it life, give it the profound opportunity to move through you. Take this opportunity to face it fully.

By giving the breakdown a means to express itself, the nature of its energy can begin to transform, revealing the underlying root cause and/or belief behind it.

If the dance pushes you to the point of breaking down, you are invited to move to the next step.

Embody love and compassion.

Perhaps this expresses itself through your dance as stillness, or a gentle flow, or deeper breathing patterns. However it expresses, envision love and compassion enveloping you and your dance.

Feel all the feels, and hold yourself and the breakdown you have faced with love and courage.

Remember... breakthrough emerges from the breakdown. We’ll see you on the other side.

This set was played as part of an online dance for the Asheville Movement Collective during a period of quarantine and general unrest surrounding Covid-19. With so many of our lives disrupted, it is a potent time to take notice of what is breaking down. I'm grateful for the feedback I received from my fellow AMC facilitators and friends who continue to educate me on the art of mix making and conscious dance.
