a bit of story with this one. at first i had completely abandoned this project, as there was just too much sadness attached to it. whenever i'd open the project, i'd be reminded of everything it once represented. all the friends i used to hang out with. the great project we had all built together, and how it was all suddenly taken away from us one day.
indeed, it was not the drama alone that caused me to leave good ol' UTSC. it was the slow, grueling downfall of the EO server and friend group, and more relevantly, our project: PEOPLE OF EO. at the time, i couldn't cope with the loss of everything i cared about most in that godforsaken community, so i simply allowed the remnants of it to collect dust within my hard drive.
flash forward to a week or so prior to today, and all of a sudden i find myself playing the lead to this very song in my fl studio piano roll. i don't quite remember how i got to that point, but after i was done tinkering with the lead, i saved the score and closed fl studio because i was rather shaken up by the sudden reminder of it all. though, after some much needed venting to a friend, i found myself reminiscing upon what it once was in greater detail. not just the pain of losing it all, but also the joy i had working on various aspects of it. all the world building we did, all the backstories and interactions we've written for our silly little characters, all the dumb roleplays we'd spend hours partaking in... and that's when it hit me. i couldn't just let this all go to waste. POEO deserved a proper sendoff, and what better way to give it one than to finish its megalo? with that in mind, i got to work. i spent hours day-in and day-out pouring blood, sweat, and tears into this project so that it could live up to what i felt POEO deserved, until i finally finished it. KYRIARCHIA: the Duel That Broke the Heavens. my beloved seven-minute masterpiece.
...so there you have it. if by some off chance any of my old friends are reading this and maybe still have a place for POEO in their hearts, i sincerely hope this does justice to some of what it was meant to be. oh, and tobe, if YOU'RE reading this, consider this my personal "fuck you" to you as well. for taking away one of the only things i still had keeping me somewhat stable at the time, and for then rubbing salt in that wound on multiple occasions. though perhaps i should be thanking you. after all, my disdain for you was a big part of what drove me to go as hard as i did on this song. either way, enjoy the tune. noitu sends his regards.
