This is the first movement my third viola concerto- this movement is subtitiled "Flaka Mbuloi Fshane" and is partly based on an Albanian folk tune. The English translation is roughly "The flames engulfed the village."

It is based on the story of Noah and is divided into 5 movements- overall the viola acts as the voice of Noah.
Movement 1- prayer and supplication- Noah is supplicating the Lord for his help and assistance- the second half is the command of the Lord to build an ark 
Movement 2- Building of the Ark- a fast and frenetic movement of building during the day with a serene middle section representing the repose of night. 
Movement 3- Parade of the animals- I always loved the story of the animals coming and so this is a series of variations on a march as the animals come into the ark 
Movement 4- Deluge- This movement is the actual flood with water rising and people pounding on the ark to be let in followed by a lament for the lost 
Movement 5- Benediction- this is post flood with a prayerful and meditative recapitulation of the story and a benedictory hymn
