John Bender, known by his recording alias fuddyq, is an American born, Canadian electronic musician. His releases vary in style within the electronic genre, from summer track Soulbox to dance-pop A Soft Light to the IDM-influenced, glitchy beats of The Wind-Up Automaton.

Influences from Boards of Canada can be heard on Duck and Cover, gentle, downtempo track with a dark subject, as well as This Is Not Normal, which is audibly disconcerting with groaning synths competing with soft voices. The track The Naiad is a knowing smile to Post-era Björk.

A quirky sense of humour is evident on the track Springtime in YEG, a playful take on the frequent windshield cleanings in a sloppy, thawing northern city, as well as Sweethearts, a song about the evolving feelings between a young boy and girl, through puberty and into young adulthood... sung by robots.
