Smooth Waters Sonic Journeys first began recording electronic/ambient music in the mid 80s, and has been actively recording, after a too-long hiatus, since 2015.  A largely self taught musician, his compositions are almost entirely freeform, often inspired by the magical offerings in the natural world.  His music offers an examination of both the continuity and the imperfection of the healing process.  For years, his purpose in composition has been to give the listener an opportunity to slow way down and chill out; tracks that are non-rhythmic are meant to create a statement about the importance of taking a break from the rush of energy in modern life.  He's begun incorporating more elements of rhythm...sometimes with a steady tempo, but usually with a tempo that drifts (often by accident and sometimes intentionally to mimic the ebb and flood of everything in life).  In the spirit of the Japanese concept of Wabi-Sabi, his goal is to continue to compose from a place of honoring both imperfection and impermanence, as well as to offer healing through music.
