Pam Warhurst, campaigner and creator of the worldwide 'Incredible Edible' movement, was invited by Salford CVS to Salford Council's Community Stadium on Wednesday, 30th October 2024 to give one of the keynote addresses to the gathered representatives of a multitude of grass-root groups in the City area.
Inspiring as always, Pam took time to describe her recent 'Right to Grow' campaign and talked about working with Jane and Mike in the future to help green initiatives in the North West, (so look out for more I-E and 'Right to Grow' news right here, on this channel).

Jane and Mike have met up with Mark Sewell from 'United Utilities', the company that supplies water to  their home, and every other building in North West England. 'UU', as it is known, has big plans for the area and is working with a budget of millions to improve water quality and dispose of the pesky waste water and sewage outflows. Hear how the suppliers are getting on, a story told on the banks of the river, down by the converted 'Soapworks' office building (which itself is due for expansion and development).

Jane and Mike took a trip to the seaside, and on a particularly windy day talked about the influence of mercury in the mouth and questioned whether there might be a link between mercury fillings in the mouth, suicide and depression.

Jane and Mike were nearly washed away on the Saturday, as it rained continuously in Salford UK, running down the gutters and forming small lakes along the gutters and pavements. So next day, Sunday, they travelled down to Kersal to see if the Flood Basin was full of rainwater. Strangely, it was not. The sun was shining, there were geese on the wetlands and people playing on the grass. It was (almost) back to normal, on this glorious Autumn day. (But we talked about previous floods in Salford, when things weren't so nice.)

Mike Scantlebury is a part of the band, radio show and song writing team known as 'The Jam'. No, Paul Weller he ain't. JAM stands for 'Jane and Mike' and you'll not just find them on Mixcloud but also Youtube and various websites and Blogs. It's modern songs, (in a folk idiom), radio shows in a 'Richard and Judy' idiot, and songs like 'Dit Dit Dit', (which, as we all know, stands for S.O.S. - good enough for The Titanic. Who knows, Salford might hit an iceberg, soon).
