Alrighty, Apparently I've been dj'ing 15 years so I wanted to do a little throwback mix for y'all. This one concentrates on a time where I was really starting to dig a little deeper with house. The time period is from 1998-2004 when I had just moved to Vancouver and was discovering a bigger scene than what I had been exposed to. It was a really great time for me and the music reflects that. If you were around then and hanging out at the World, Celebrities, Odyssey, or any of the after hours then you'll likely recognize a lot of this stuff. While they may not be classics to everyone each of them has a special memory attached to it. Tons of vocals in this one and really funky all the way, some things never change. Born and raised in the dynamic landscape of Houston, TX, Mike found his calling in the pulsating beats of electronic music. After moving to Idaho in the early '90s, he planted the seeds of the rave movement in Boise, where he became known for his unique Funky Jackin' Tech House sound & original productions.

The journey westward led Mike Balance to the heart of the electronic music hub – Los Angeles, CA. Here, he became an integral part of InStereo Recordings, joining forces with the legendary DJ Dan to manage the label for nearly a decade. Their collaborative efforts will go down as some of the best high-powered Funky House that's ever come out of the west coast!
