This Cover of The Smiths "Last Night I Dreamt Somebody Loved Me' was something I couldn't say no to... but I treated it with absolute love and reverence. The idea was simple, we would create a groove and I would free style in and out of verses with possible samples of poetry. What actually came out was this 13 minute take, formulated mainly in one evening at Pino's studio Creative Caffeine. Pino played the percussion and drums and had studio players on the rest... I played with the synth and added the faux 'Sitar' in overdubs. Background vocals were handled by Annalisa Nutt. I intend to send this to Morrissey, I hope he doesn't banish me from the planet. In season one, the opening credits for HBO's The Leftovers were done by Max Richter (a Paper Route hero) and in season two, the credits were… well, gut wrenching on first listen/watch. A folk song performed by Iris DeMent that, by the end of the season, its juxtaposition could not have been more perfect. Which brings us to….

When it was announced that a third and final season would be made of The Leftovers, we wanted to capture this complete circle with a song. We took the two opening songs from each previous season (which could not be more different)… and played them as one.
