The Painted Redstarts are an Austin Americana Indie band that Rolling Stone hailed as the future of Austin music after their performance at Moody Theater/ACL Live in January 2014. The Painted Redstarts were top picks for this year's SXSW, including features in the New York Times and one of seven bands featured as a pick from KUTX in their "Seven To Watch" series. Their single "Curtains Wide" has been in KUTX rotation. The Austin Chronicle's Kevin Curtain/Playback Austin hails William as the "voice of his generation." Rock critic Doug Freeman calls the band "ambassadors to the next generation that's already making waves in river city." Renowned filmmaker Geoff Marslett made a video for the Painted Redstarts to coincide with the official release of "Curtains Wide." Shot entirely on cameras from 1984 to capture the vibe of the heyday years of MTV. William is featured in this year's Wired Magazine's Annual "Smart List," the top 50 innovative world changers, that includes Woon-Soon Park (Mayor of Seoul), Brandon Stanton (Humans of New York), Satoshi Nakamoto (founder of Bitcoin) Ben Rattray (founder of Change. org), & James Turrell.
