The East Riding of Yorkshire, where, after leaving the sunny landscapes of California, Bradford born artist David Hockney returned to live and paint. Hockney's art challenges how we perceive the world, some of his photographic collages are almost cubist, as this podcast is, fragmentary, lacking a straight chronology. Your mind does not think in simple, ordered steps. Your eyes and your mind are constantly moving. Hockney wants to reflect that. I can only try and use a similar method to describe him and what he does.

two Jez Riley French hydrophones, placed a bit more than a meter apart, a few centimetres under the surface algae, as shown in the thumbnail image.

left and right channels show clear difference in insect/animal sonic activity. i have panned them hard to left and right, but not completely, so there is a bit of overlap. further, i left the recordings in their original state, with no EQ adjustments whatsoever. you can hear water beetles, water boatmen and the sound of aquatic plants as they take energy from the light. (thank you JrF!) any further help with insect/animal identification would be greatly appreciated!
