Ellie Goulding - Lights (MikeZula Remix)

MikeZula (Mike Narvaez) is an upcoming artist residing in Las Vegas, Nevada. He recently took his first steps into producing EDM in June 2010 after being recommended to try out Reason, which he promptly grew fond of.

"Music has always been a big part of my life. Just having the ability to create an atmosphere around you with something as simple as a sound really does fascinate me. I grew up playing acoustic instruments like the guitar, piano, and drums and have always been intrigued by the amount of instruments with completely different sounds that existed in the world, and was always wanting to move onto the next instrument with a new sound. So after opening Reason for the first time and seeing all the crazy different sounds that i could create from scratch and sculpt into whatever i wanted them to be, i was hooked. It was as if i had a hundreds of different instruments at my finger tips, and i didn't have to settle for just one sound at a time anymore."

Mike's fixation with dubstep began immediately after listening to Boom by Excision and Datsik in June 2009, which sparked his curiosity with sounds he'd never heard before. He quickly grew a large collection of  tracks and mixes from this genre which eventually took up his entire library. "All i could think about after hearing that track was 'mother of god, how the f**k are they making these sounds!' And to this day i find new tracks coming out and think the same thing! It's just awesome to have a genre that can continuously catch you by surprise like that."

It was, however, only after discovering Liquid Stranger and his unique production style, that Mike became interested in creating the music himself. And a few months later he began doing just that. "After hearing Liquid Stranger's Mechanoid Mixdown for 2010, i just thought wow. He put his own little spin on this genre and it sounded damn good. All these patterns and rhythms he threw in there just created this awesome flow and that made me realize that i wanted to try and enter this genre and put my own little twist on it. So i asked around, was recommended Reason and have been producing ever since."

"My main goal is not to be famous, or to spin at these big events. Though i would jump at the opportunity, i'm honestly just creating the music that i love, and am choosing to share that sound with people who might enjoy it. My REAL main goal would be to one day have it be MY sound that will inspire someone to make their own journey into the vast world of music production."

For those of you wondering why i call myself MikeZula, here's the urban dictionary definition below.

A word created to make Master Shake cooler than he already is.
Nobody's coola than Shake-zula.
