The motivation for this composition is due to the composer’s experience and personal connection with stress and anxiety. The objective of this composition is to make the listener aware of how common stress and anxiety is in modern life, and the damaging effects it can have on an individual as well as society.

The piece begins with the calming sound of the ocean, this is then interrupted by distressing sounds from modern life, as the piece progresses you hear a heartbeat get faster and faster, this is accompanied by panicked breathing. Then slowly the breathing becomes under control, the heart rate drops, the distressing sounds fade, and the sound of the calm ocean comes back. This is an analogy for how a person can become overwhelmed by stress, but they can take steps such as the practice of mindfulness to combat this.
