Master Kev’s victory in a mix-off contest in the 1990’s proved that the years of obsessing over the mixes of Merlin Bobb, Timmy Regisford, Tony Humphries and others on radio and in clubs, studying underground dance and beat syncopation and accumulating a killer collection of records finally paid off . And as the number of shows soared, so did Kev’s talent. Soon after, hero Tony Humphries called Kev to ask him to join forces with him on his Yellorange Label. His answer? A triumphant ‘Hell Yeah’.
After spinning in his first WMC in the year 2000 and embarking on several trips to Europe, Asia, Australia, South America and beyond, with Tony Humphries and even solo, his DJ career was officially on the rise. Playing in some of the most prominent clubs in major cities all over the world and playing alongside some of the prominent names in the industry including Louie Vega, Timmy Regisford, David Morales, Danny Krivit, Kerri Chandler and so many more. Also, in 2000 Kev along with founder Marlon D and others helped form the Underground Collective - a collection of DJ’s, performers, musicians..etc created to draw exposure in the dance music industry to major labels and beyond.

While working with Tony Humphries at Yellorange from 1999 - 2004, Kev had many ‘Net Shows’ on the site along with Tony Humphries and the other Yellorange DJ’s that were updated once a month. Then in 2004, Kev started a weekly radio show on CyberJamz Radio (cyberjamz.com).  The show has grown more and more each year, with many producers giving Kev the upfront heat and unreleased jams. Also, many labels send Kev promo’s in hopes that those tracks/songs will be played on his very highly listened to radio show.  With the amount of weekly hits in the archives it was no wonder they would think of Kev to help promote the new music.These days u can find the Master Kev Mixshows on Soundcloud (https://soundcloud.com/master-kev) which are updated frequently.

In 2006 Kev partnered up with long time friend and former Yellorange/Underground Collective DJ partner David ‘Vibes’ Tobon and keyboard wizard John Crockett to form MKDV.  They produced their first track together titled ‘Twisted’ which gained a lot of early support from the biggest names in the dance music industry and was a very popular release on DJ Spen's imprint Code Red as well as Defected Records and even being licensed by the one and only Carl Cox for his mix compilation that was released on Defected Records.  They also worked on original tracks for Tony Records and remixes for Louie Vega’s imprint Vega Records remixing Sara Devine’s ‘Special’ as well as remixes for Mel Cheren’s and Kevin Hedge’s (Blaze) West End Records.  In 2007 Kev partnered up with good friend Scott Wozniak to produce more tracks for Code Red & Defected titled ‘String Thing’ and ‘Uncooked’ .. ‘String Thing’ became the number 1 download on Defected and Traxsources website for weeks .. They also did some remixes on Stevie Wonder’s ‘My Cherie Amour’ and Joe Cocker’s ‘You Are So Beautiful’ (high in demand since the 2007 WMC) which were never released to this date.  Later that year Kev also partnered up with Abicah Soul and worked on original tracks and remixes as well. One of those tracks ‘Kora’ was released on Iwanni Records from Toronto.

With an abundance of traveling and playing in major clubs as well as major clubs back home in NYC such as Cielo, Santos, Sullivan Room..etc..work and the frequently updated podcast shows on Podomatic & Soundcloud, Kev was once again back in the studio this time with very talented Tony Loreto from Italy forming the MKTL brand. They have been working together a lot throughout 2009-2013. They have done remixes for Tortured Soul ,Arnold Jarvis, Kenny Bobien, Peven Everett, Underground Collective,Michelle Weeks, Boddhi Satva's Offering Label, DJ Spen's 'Code Red' label, Louie and Anane Vega for Vega Records and scores of others.

David Morales is a globally revered American DJ, a Grammy award-winning record producer, songwriter, and businessman. He has produced and remixed over 1000+ records for an all-star roster of multi-platinum artists, including Mariah Carey, U2, Michael Jackson, Aretha Franklin, Madonna, and Whitney Houston. A true legend of house music, the global phenomenon and penetration of dance music into Top 40 radio would not have been possible without him.
More recently, Morales launched DIRIDIM Records in 2018. With this new label, David is signing and developing new talent - and naturally, releasing some of his own music. DIRIDIM celebrates all kinds of dance music, ranging from the classic house music sound Morales is known for to straight-up electronic sonorities. In January 2022, Morales released "Life Is a Song", his first full-length studio album in almost 10 years. Produced during the pandemic lockdown, the album featuring artists, Mr. V., Blakkat, Elle Cato, Michelle Perera, Lea Lorien, Blondewearingblack among others, quickly gained an international following eager to hear more and skyrocketed up Traxsource's album chart to #1 for three weeks. His unquenchable thirst for newness is precisely why this native New Yorker remains at the top of his game into the new decade - “It’s about keeping an open mind,” as Morales says. In 2020, due to the global pandemic and inability to travel, he launched, Sunday Mass, a livestreaming show on Twitch to entertain his fans across the world. The 2021 IMS Business Report based on data, cited him as one of the dance music artists who experienced online success during the pandemic. Into post-pandemic times and with the reopening of clubs all over the world, David continued his legacy as a native New Yorker and trailblazing DJ, constantly gracing the best international stages with recent standout performances such as the Hacienda Warehouse Project in Manchester, Clockwork Orange in London, Stereo Montreal, EDC Vegas, Hi Ibiza, and After Caposile Venice. In 2024, David Morales is holding a residency at the legendary Pikes Hotel in Ibiza during the summer. A pinnacle in his repertoire is also the ongoing success of the Sunday Mass parties in NY, featuring both club nights and legendary boat parties during the summer. These events stand as a testament to Morales's enduring impact as a true legend on the house music scene. On top of this all, David is on the brink of releasing a new LP, 'Sunday Mass Vol. 1', the inaugural installment in a series with more to come in 2024. David Morales has transcended musical genres to create a global brand. His music productions have appeared in popular films and television shows, including The Devil Wears Prada, Ninja Turtles 2, Don’t Mess With the Zohan, and Star (TV Series). His DIRIDIM radio show can be heard on Ibiza Global Radio and numerous other stations around the world which is streamed to millions of listeners around the world. In 2016, Morales was the lead judge on “Top DJ” a national television series broadcast on Italia 1. When it came time to wear his fashion model hat, Morales appeared in a global advertising campaign for luxury design house, Iceberg. 

HISTORY
David Morales honed his skills as a DJ in the 1980s and 1990s at such legendary clubs as the Ozone Layer, Paradise Garage, Red Zone, Zanzibar, Tunnel and Club USA just to name a few. When the remix and DJ work began taking off, Morales teamed up with house music legend, Frankie Knuckles, and For The Record DJ Pool founder/NYC nightlife impresario, Judy Weinstein, to create Def Mix Productions.
Morales’ prolific production career kicked into high gear in the 1990s with the release of his solo debut album, “The Program” by David Morales & The Bad Yard Club. In the late-1990s, with hundreds of remixes (Mariah Carey’s “Dreamlover,” Janet Jackson’s “Throb,” Alison Limerick’s “Where Love Lives,” CeCe Peniston’s “Finally,” Jamiroquai’s “Space Cowboy”, Jaydee’s “Plastic Dreams,” Robert Owens’ “I’ll Be Your Friend,” under his belt, Morales recorded the groundbreaking house classic, “Needin’ U,” under the alias David Morales Presents The Face. Morales’ second album, “2 Worlds Collide,” arrived in 2005, followed six years later, by his third album, “Changes.” 
David Morales was nominated for his first Grammy Award in 1996 as a Producer on Mariah Carey’s album, ‘Daydream’ for the song ‘Fantasy’. In 1998 he won a Grammy Award for “Remixer of the Year.”
Though Morales’ past is surely one for music’s history books, the DJ-turned-artist always has his eyes firmly focused on the future—on what lies ahead. He keeps an ear to the ground, regularly exploring new music, new artists, and hotly tipped DJs who might inspire him to “go and do my homework.” He happily embraces the new generation of clubgoers. “They don’t care about yesterday”, he says, with a knowing smile.

The Beat, the Scene, the Sound follows DJ Disciple and his behind-the-scenes account of how DJs, promoters, fans, and others transformed house music from a DIY project into an international sensation—dive into the glitzy clubs, underground parties, and the diverse communities who made up the scene amidst the tumult of 1980s/90s-era NYC—between the fall of disco and the rise of EDM. The book unearths many untold stories of the era. When house first rose to prominence in the 1980s, it brought people together—Palladium, Paradise Garage, Tunnel, Zanzibar, Studio 54, and other clubs were going strong. But as DJ Disciple established himself in the scene, he witnessed it shatter. During the crack-cocaine epidemic, he literally dodged bullets bringing his records to and from clubs at night. HIV/AIDS and homophobia threw up fear-based partitions. Then, mayors worked to close the clubs. House music was pushed underground and then abroad to the UK and Europe. Disciple and many other DJs sought to regain a footing in the United States, but that only became possible with the rise of commercialized EDM. With dozens of interviews and historic photographs, The Beat, the Scene, the Sound shows what is possible when you bring people together and what can unravel when you split them apart.
Whether he’s dropping beats or dropping jaws, DJ Disciple is changing the game of modern music forever. David Banks, aka DJ Disciple, is an internationally-touring artist, DJ, radio host, and producer based in Brooklyn, New York. He is most famous for his success on the music charts, including his hit single, "On the Dancefloor," which peaked at #67 in the UK Singles Chart in 1994, and his Grammy-nominated track “Caught Up,” which earned the number one spot on the US Billboard Hot Dance Club Play chart in 2002 and was later featured on the Showtime series “Queer as Folk” in 2006. Disciple has also earned his way to the top in the world of remixes, and won an ARIA music award in Australia for his remix of producer Steven Allkins, aka Love Tattoo’s hit, “The Bass Has Got Me Movin.”

Disciple grew up with music in his genes. His father played piano with Miles Davis and his brother slapped bass for George Benson. Disciple got his start as a gospel DJ and, staying true to his religious roots, coined his name as a constant reminder that “only what you do for Christ shall last”. He started his professional career in 1987 when he worked as a radio host and mixer for WNYE FM, and quickly gained a loyal following of listeners. In the 90’s, he hosted “The Best Kept Secret”, a mix show also on WNYE (FM), where he spun the hottest new underground tracks from rising artists. From there, he moved on to touring as a DJ in 1992 with his eyes set on global success.

Disciple started out strong, and his first professional DJ gig was at the famous Studio 54 in New York. After that, Discple moved onto playing in the UK. As he traveled, his fan base quickly grew in size and diversity. By the time he debuted his first single on Muzik Pushers in 1993, his career was well on its way to the top. Since then, he has toured internationally and led the way for a modern era of DJs.

DJ Disciple is just as much an entrepreneur as he is a musician, and has had great success through starting his own record label, Catch 22 Recordings. The label is consistently putting out quality tracks, but one of the most noteworthy releases on this label was Disciple’s hit single, "Work It Out" featuring Dawn Tallman, which debuted in 2006. This track was also re-released on House Trained Records in the UK and made appearances on MTV and BBC Radio 1.

More recently, Disciple collaborated with Collette Mclaffery on “Birdseye View”. Their track is due out June 2017. Disciple is currently finishing his untitled book. Its publication is set for 2018. In 2017 Disciple’s label, Catch 22, celebrated its 20th year of releasing music. Here’s to the future, and to 20 more years of revolutionizing the music industry.
