On 3rd Feb 2011 Orchestral Manoeuvres in the Dark played an exclusive live show for Radio 2 at the Mermaid Theatre in London, featuring classic hits and tracks from their new album 'History of Modern'.

Finally, here it is: the long awaited new single from Anders Trentemøller, taken from his forthcoming album ‘Into The Great Wide Yonder’. ‘Sycamore Feeling’ is a beautifully melancholic downtempo song with haunting vocals courtesy of singer Marie Fisker. 
Fisker’s sensual, intoxicating performance, framed by a lush instrumentation with lots of ambience, make this another great Trentemøller-track.

On ‘Sycamore Feeling’, his new gem, the Danish producer introduces an upcoming female singer from his hometown Copenhagen: Marie Fisker, one of several vocalists to appear on the soon to be released album ‘Into The Great Wide Yonder’  - the follow up of his highly succesful debut ‘The Last Resort’ (2006).
Rough around the edges, ‘Sycamore Feeling’ definitely sounds more indie-rock than his previous releases, thanks to the use of live drums as well as electric and acoustic guitars, yet the result is vintage Trentemøller, who played all instruments except the acoustic guitar himself. As in all of his music, the colours in the arrangement continually change, making it one of these tracks that you can keep on playing, discovering new details all the time.

The ‘Sycamore Feeling’ CD-single contains six tracks, four of which take the song in a completely different direction. Where the original is definitely made for home listening, some of the remixes are aimed at the DJ-community. Even though Trentemøller himself would have been perfectly capable of producing a solid dancefloor version himself, this time around he decided to leave that to two of the great names of minimal-techno, Gui Boratto and Thomas Schumacher. 
Gui Boratto turns ‘Sycamore Feeling’ into a convincing club-track, with lighter colours and a straight four to the floor drive. Using cut-ups and snippets of Fisker’s vocal, he transforms the mood of the original without losing it’s great melodic feel.
Thomas Schumacher takes the track even further and comes up with a driving minimal techno workout, stripping away many of the original layers, yet using the vocal to great effect. 
A third remix is offered by Danish electronic outfit Mofus, which builds an effective minimalistic arrangement with spacey atmospherics around Fisker’s longing vocals. This version is another fine example of the way Trentemøller keeps discovering new (Danish) talent, that nicely complements his own sound.
Anders Trentemøller offers his own alternate version of ‘Sycamore Feeling’, with even more electric guitars than the original, a different chord progression and, again, a solid indie-rock feel.


The video for ‘Sycamore Feeling’ will be directed by video-artist Jesper Just, while the artwork comes courtesy of Trentemøller’s designer-friend and live tourdrummer, Henrik Vibskov and his partner in art Andreas Emenius.

‘Sycamore Feeling’ is the first release on Trentemøller’s own label In My Room.

Denmark‘s most forward thinking export Trentemøller announces a new single on his own ‚In My Room‘ label, twisting 60s psychedelia into a modern electronic-punk beatdown, complete with remixes from none other than Andrew Weatherall, Lulu Rouge and Trentemøller himself.

Packed with overdriven synth and guitar textures, live/processed drums and a pacy, apocalyptic vibe, the original version of the remarkable ‚Silver Surfer, Ghost Rider Go!!!‘ taken from the new album ,Into The Great Wide Yonder’ is perhaps Anders Trentemøller‘s ode to some of the many other spectrums of electronic music and noise that he loves. Narly, brash and raw, this is a wild leap into the unknown, all the while underpinned by the amazing production we‘ve come to expect from this ever-developing artist.

The Trentemøller remix version (actually taking pride and place on as the first cut) is a freaky, tripping jam that fuses tough electronics with a free, Doors-esque vibe that really marks a new and fresh sound for the producer. 

London rave pioneer and long-since visionary producer Andrew Weatherall hands in his ‚Prinz‘ remix that takes the elements on a real journey through the fictional desert islands of the North Sea in a spooked-out, bassline led jam. Dub echoes, cosmic filters and tape delay are in full effect in this amazing interpretation.


Finally Copenhagen‘s Lulu Rouge aka DJ T.O.M. and Buda crank up the bass for their slower paced, dub-step inspired remix that works all manner of clever edits and fills into a raw and industrial landscape of abrasive synths and some of the more spectacular elements of the original. Heavy, deep and dope all at the same time!

The phenomenal video for ‚Silver Surfer, Ghost Rider Go!!!‘ has been filmed at the unforgettable show at the main stage at the Roskilde festival 2009.

Taken from Trentemøller’s new full-length album, ‚Into The Great Wide Yonder‘, a stunning achievement in modern production and cinematic songwriting, ‚Shades of Marble‘ has been reworked by the man himself, along rising artists KiNK and Kasper Bjørke.
Trentemøller‘s dramatic, edgy and daring remix of his own string drenched opus is nothing short of breathtaking. Leaning towards dancefloors with an appreciation for epic qualities, this expertly constructed re-think will surely be heard well into the festival season.

The inimitable man from Sofia, KiNK rises to the challenge of remixing ‚Shades Of Marble‘ and does so heroically. The pleasing result is a tough, Chicago meets Berlin jack-jam that leads to tripped out and freaky moments in the break, until his trademark drum machines do the rest!

Finally another bright star of the Danish scene, Kasper Bjørke, has his say with his deeper and more low slung remix that leads the listening into satisfying late night realms. Full of funk and melancholy, this is a welcome treat for fans of Bjørke‘s characteristic productions.

Anders Trentemøller has become one of the most respected names in cutting edge electronic music in the last few years. His rise to notoriety was sparked by his early, techy releases for Poker Flat and Audiomatique and has since gone on to stellar highs with his own personal take on the  genre, spanning, pop, rock, indie and classical. His debut album 'The Last Resort‘ was released in 2006 to much international acclaim, and the producer also began to become an in-demand remixer in the house and techno world. 

As the decade wore on his sound continued to progress, opening up his studio to more live instrumentation, and a looser, rock-meets electronic vibe with his stunning 'Into The Great Wide Yonder‘ LP. From legendary live shows with the 'Live In Concert‘ tour with a full backing band, to remixes for a whole host of talents outside of the electronic world, to producing new bands like Darkness Falls on the label hfn music, the restless creative is always a powerhouse of productivity.

Now this special double CD and double vinyl release celebrates some of the producer’s favourite remixes he completed for other artists, and also some of his personal picks where other musicians have reworked his music. With over 20 super-slick productions to choose from, this is a real treat for any Trentemøller fan, or indeed a great introduction into his sound. From crisp electronic beats, to atmospheric and filmic moments, to heavy post-rock mutations and beyond. This sheer variety in store here is testament to the talent and musical vision of Anders Trentemøller.

All the reworked tracks are taken from last year’s 'Into The Great Wide Yonder‘ album, which fused melancholic, emotional melodies with a more indie/electro-rock studio focus.

This double CD packs so many quality songs and productions it’s hard to list them all, yet highlights on CD 1 include the introductory swathes of Marie Fisker‘s wonderfully contemplative version of 'Sycamore Feeling‘, taking us into lazy, hazy hypnotic waves of neo-folk. Fisker sang vocals on the beautiful album-track, and here we take an insight into her own very talented world. ‘Tide’ flows in as three different versions: Efterklang‘s beautiful new remix, a Trentemøller version, and the inimitable Berlin-based bad-boys Modeselektor remixed 'Tide‘ in their 'Last Remix Ever‘... and it’s a dirty ride with plenty of lo-fi synths fusing with high end production in a rolling melancholic electronic story. Of course we‘d be fools not to forget remixes of Trentemøller songs by none other than Andrew Weatherall, or the main man‘s remixes of artists like UNKLE, The Dø, Franz Ferdinand or Modeselektor featuring Thom Yorke - all must-have modern works, also including Kasper Bjørke‘s tender ‚Does Not Matter‘ which is re-shaped by Trentemøller in glorious cinematic coloured sound. 

Gliding into CD 2 we find even more electronic versions, kicking off with Trentemøller‘s foreboding new mix of his own ‚Neverglade‘, before we hear his interpretations of Efterklang‘s ‚Raincoats‘ or the heroric version of 
Depeche Mode‘s 'Wrong‘. I Blame Coco provide their brilliantly different interpretation of '...Even Though You‘re With Another Girl‘, featuring the new recorded vocals of Coco Sumner, transforming the original with her own low-slung mutation of pop and electronic styles. 'Even Though...’ is also contributed by Hamburg upstarts Kollektiv Turmstrasse providing their stomping mix, in a stylish mixture of pop-meets-deepest-electronica.

Furthermore, we discover brilliant reworks of bands like Mew, Giana Factory or Chimes And Bells. Trentemøller‘s raw and industrial remix of Giana Factory‘s ‚Dirty Snow‘ features the wonderful guitar skills of Lisbet Fritze, who currently tours with Trentemøller on his live show.

UNKLE, maverick UK producer James Lavelle‘s ambitious on-going pro-ject, reaches out into filmic, spacey zones with their remix of Trentemøller‘s classic 'Neverglade‘. Among UNKLE’s version and the bristling, tense electronic remix by Trentemøller himself, this track also appears as an instrumental version that lets the wonderful instrumentation shine.

Trentemøller 'Reworked/Remixed' is a beautiful journey into the musical world of one of the best producers and musicians today, enriched with reinterpretations by some of the most interesting artists. Alternative? Electronic? Rock? Pop? Although it's become a consistent album, genre-barriers completely fade away. But who cares... Enjoy!
