With a relatively short career span, Dimitri Schnider, better known to the music world as Definition, has led a diverse path. Label head of Definition:Music with his partner Def:Play, and releasing a slew of tight productions on labels like Get Physical, Diynamic, Hive Audio and of course Definition:Music - Definitions sound is one that is quickly gaining support. Previously playing a number of parties in Europe, his sound is almost a direct representation of his label. Combining elements of house and techno in his sets and productions that play across many stretches of the musical landscape.

"Above all else, what I love about DJing is the endless hunt for incredible and unique music that I can share with others. I'm an introvert by nature, I don't really like being in crowds and I tend to overanalyse everything. What brings me peace is the music itself. 

I've spent more than half of my life listening to all types of electronic music. It's a huge part of my life and through the love of music I've met most of my best friends and my beautiful dance floor warrior princess (now my wife). 

I love techno. I always have and always will. This however is only one piece of the puzzle. Outside of DJing clubs and festivals you'll find me listening to a huge range of sounds and styles. An unquenchable thirst for sonic brilliance. 

One style in particular is that which blurs the lines between electronica, modern classical, ambient and downtempo. Music that I can listen to through headphones to turn the volume on the rest of the world down. My own microcosmos in a fast-paced world.

Rainbow Serpent Festival is one of my favourite places on earth. It revives me each year mentally and musically. Having the opportunity to contribute music alongside my heroes is a huge honour and one I do not take lightly. 

This set took months to compile and saw me dive deep into the archives for tunes that have inspired me over the past two decades. It's a representation of all that I love about music.

With this set and the time it was played, I wanted people to wake up to warm ambient and soft keys, before building to glitchy electronica and broken beats that would revitalise sore heads. As the morning sun bathed the festival grounds, smiling faces filled the dance floor.

Here is my set from Rainbow Serpent Festival 2018. So so so grateful to be able to share my music again at this magical event. I've never felt more comfortable, relaxed and open as I did when presenting my music on this morning. To have so many people dancing at 4:30am on the chill out floor was totally overwhelming and a moment i will never forget. Also a massive THANK YOU to all the tribe who came down to support and see me play. It was such a nice surprise and i am grateful to have all your beautiful energy there. 🙂 🙂  

A special mention to Maddy Lou for recording the spoken word piece at the start of the set. We recorded this in the forest on the land at the beginning of the festival ❤ ❤ I hope you all get as much enjoyment out of this set as I did producing and playing it. I shall see you all in the near future 🙂

Recently relocated from San Francisco to New York City, Mike Martinez is cofounder of the amazing progressive house page @soitgoesradio.  Martinez has a true passion for the music; this shows through in the incredible guest mixes that he selects for his page, as well as in the mixes that he, himself, creates. Deep, melodic, hypnotic and unique: this guest session is no exception. 

Some of our team had the opportunity to meet Mike in person, at the Modern Agenda Boat party in Amsterdam, 2019. Not surprisingly, what we found was a down to earth dude, kind, with a great sense of humour. Can't wait to hang out once the world turns rightsideup again.
