Everybody loves blondes right? Well In the last few years we’ve become even more of a fan of the fair, well ish as Canadian born London based duo Blond:ish have captured our attention with their unique production recipe which focuses on the art of creating music that is organic and multi-dimensional. Provocative basslines contrast with smooth textures and haunting vocals to defy categorization as anything other than cool. 

Thus it is with great excitement we welcome the girls in for this weeks podcast after a huge 2012 wherein they stormed the scene with a series of big releases including their psychedelic influenced ‘Lovers In Limbo’ EP  on Kompakt  which showcased Blond:ish’s curiosity of the late 60’s musical movement, as well dropping stellar efforts for Noir Music, NM2 and Get Physical. 

So with a big year behind them and even bigger 2013 planned with an extensive set of tour dates including Flying Circus in Ibiza at the end of the month and the Chicago leg of the Electric Daisy Carnival, things certainly seem to be looking up for the duo.  Quirky and innovative, very much like their native city of Montreal and the organized chaos that have accompanied their sets there since they burst onto the scene with their acclaimed residency at the city’s Cherry Club, we think the mix they’ve delivered from a small village in deepest, darkest Mexico is the perfect thing to get you in the mood for the summer ahead. Italian producer Ugo Basile has been involved with music for a lifetime. A keen instrumentalist growing up, he became a sound designer whilst also juggling several different musical projects. His latest, Hugo & The Prismatics has been touring the world as a four-piece band, drawing applause from all over the electronic spectrum as they go. Hugo’s first solo album, The Consequences Of Loop is now available under the project’s banner but how did it all begin, how has he got to here he is now and what is in the pipeline for the future?

There have only ever been a few bands that have been able to bridge the gap between rock and electronic music and we think that Belgian four-piece Goose are firmly one of them. 7 years after the release of their much hyped debut album on skint records the boys have developed a much harder electronic edge whilst retaining the energy that has seen their live show become such a coveted attraction around the continent.

The third album Control Control Control was recorded live in the studio by Paul Stacey and Dave Sardy  before being released on GOOSE’s own label Safari Records. The album got a glowing reception and after becoming a firm favorite  with many electronic music taste makers definitively announced them as a force within the scene..

After more than 400 concerts around the globe, their stage talent is well known. Only the truly great manage to sell out the Ancienne Belgique three nights running, as GOOSE did in February 2013 and with that we were delighted to acquire their talents for this weeks podcast as things get seriously acid during their mix. Play it loud!

Their debut ep on Leena brings back a classic groove monster inspired by early basic channel, mood2swing beats and tooped with some up to date rave signals to heat up the summer

With Tube & Berger having an absolutely stacked tour date throughout Europe this Summer, AND recently finishing a US tour of Orange County, Los Angeles, San Francisco and Miami all in just four days where they “met cool people, got a good time and we want to thank you all for the massive support and the positive vibe!”. We here at Data Transmission are pleased that they took the time to bring us a brilliant podcast.

Tube & Berger are a duo formed of Arndt Roerig and Marko Vidovic, they grew up in a small industrial town in Germany, and confronted with the boredom that comes with that they found music at a young age. Their breakthrough came back in 2004 with the song ‘Straight Ahead’ featuring new wave legend Chrissie Hynde which climbed straight to the top of the US Billboard Dance Radio Charts and bookings from all over the world started to roll in. The duo wanted the freedom that many artist crave, so with their friend and colleague DJ Juliet Sikora Kittball they created their own label; ‘Kitball Records’. The three ‘Kittballers’ are also responsible for the ‘It Began In Africa’ charity project. The project, which helps young African musicians, has released two compilations and received massive support from artists such as Timo Maas, Ida Engberg, Format B and Pirupa. After ‘Free Tribe’, Tube & Berger reached the Beatport no.1 spot once again with the track ‘Lovebreak’ featuring Milan Euringer. Then after 8 years of constant touring and gigs in some of the world’s renowned clubs (Cocoon Club – Frankfurt, Sankeys – Manchester, Club A – Sao Paulo), Tube & Berger still found the time to release their first studio album titled ‘Introlution’, which was highly praised by both critics and fans alike. This is most certainly Tube & Berger’s biggest year so make sure you catch them if you can

As much as we love dealing with the biggest names and labels in the industry we appreciate that it is the underground that makes the scene tick and keeps the musical landscape as vibrant as it needs to be to flourish. Occasionally we like to go off the beaten track here at DT and deliver something that catches our fans by surprise so we thought we’d go leftfield and pluck a very talented artist from relative obscurity for your aural delights this afternoon . Step forward Eyez Malone.
Growing up in Manchester Eyez was also going to be a DJ with a love of music diagnose from an early age but it wasn’t until his teens that he discovered house music and became obsessed with its intoxicating rhythms, driving bass lines and chilled out vibes spending his weekends experiencing beautiful things alongside beautiful people in the middle of dance floors determined to absorb as much from his surroundings as possible. No longer a teenager but still enthused with the scene with the passion of somebody falling in love with house music for the first time, Eyez quickly establishing himself as one to watch in the Manchester scene and with plans to release productions in the near future we wouldn’t disagree.
