That's right, I have a new axe...a Schecter. I never even considered one before. But, I saw great reviews(and it cost 1/3 the price my Les Paul) so I picked one up. I wrote this epic instrumental to give it a test drive. I cut the drum loops (and gave them that big 80s feel), used my LPs for the rhythm guitars, played bass, layered harmonies of the Schecter's sweet, singing tone for the chorus and let 'er rip on some lead and Floyd Rose dive bombs. Such a fun guitar to play!

'Heartland'

It's been a while since I put out a jazz tune so I decided to put out this standard by Gershwin played on my nylon string. I had a look at a few different examples of sheet music for this one. Interestingly there seem to be quite a few variations of the chords. One of the beauties of jazz! I used the chords in a cool old songbook I bought at a garage sale. The tune was written in the 1930s so I reckon the songbook is as old as 1940s.

Mark Kurtis Adams (1956-2022) is the greatest songwriter you've never heard of. We were friends for forty years. Since his passing, I have been combing through his massive catalog of original songs; many co-written with friends, many written solo.
