前作"Floating"そして"Lady Dahlia"を収録した7インチ・アナログが、国内はもとより欧州を中心に海外でも高い評価を得たCruisic。実はその時すでにレコーディングしていた本楽曲を、いよいよ2022RSDにてリリースする運びとなりました。今回は80年代末期のマンチェスターで結成された伝説の808 Stateの代表曲として、更にはアンビエント・ハウス・シーンにも大きな影響を与え、今もなお色褪せない魅力を放つ大名曲、"Pacific"のカバーです。原曲に散りばめられた鳥の囀りをも再現しつつも、より現代の感覚にフィットするバレアリックなテンポ感とサウンドで展開し、Cruisicならではの生ドラムとシーケンスの融合により完成されたCruisic版"Pacific"です。B-Sideには4ビートにウッドベースで展開した新感覚の"4Beat Club Version"を収録。
本家が7インチ・リリースの際に命名したタイトル"Pacific-707"をも踏襲してのリリースです。

We’ve been big fans of the Sunrise Sessions for a while now. The monthly mixes, curated by Oslo based Plastic Fantastic have become one of our favourite destinations for eclectic and downtempo music so its a real honour to host one of their mixes here on The Electric Disco.

Plastic Fantastic is the alias of DJ and producer John Clements. Originally formed as a duo with Eirik Wulff-Engh in 2012, Eirik decided to step away from the partnership in 2020 leaving John to continue Plastic Fantastic as a solo project.

The project has had a number of releases on some of the most highly regarded labels in the scene including Aficionado, Balearic Social and Nu Northern Soul, and this mix is a perfect reflection of their output, taking in moments of Ambient, World, New Wave, Jazz and Funk.

It’s a superb selection, we’ve had it on repeat for the last couple of weeks and we’re sure you’ll love it too..

Danish music connoisseur Mike Salta is a man of many talents. Whether he’s acting as musician, DJ, record producer, radio broadcaster, remixer or composer, Mike Salta always strives to create musical magic. Operating in a sphere where time and genre is nothing and vibe is everything, and with 35+ years of experience from performances and entrepreneurship all over the world, Salta has released records on an array of highly regarded labels including NuNorthern Soul, Music For Dreams, Café Del Mar and Claremont 56. Keep a look out for Mike Salta's 12" remix of 'City Lights' by Flashbaxx which is due out on NuNorthern Soul this spring. He also has a single called 'Espalmador' coming out on Music For Dreams in March/April and a full length album due for release in the summer.

Mike Salta has delivered an outstanding mix for the series. Recorded in 2022, his thoughtful selections are a perfect balance of old and new. There’s no shortage of gold on here, such as Suso Saiz' ambient masterpiece ‘Un Humbro Oscuro’. Back in 2016 Music From Memory licensed and made this track available on both vinyl and digital formats for the first time. Quincy Jones smooth jazz-funk classic 'Velas', off his 1981 three-times Grammy Award winning LP The Dude. Philippe Royan’s blissed-out ‘Cap Malheureux‘, the instrumental B-side of a super-rare 7” from 1990. Absolutely gorgeous record. As for some of the newer material represented here, there's Simon Mills' brilliantly emotive track 'Coco', a digital/Bandcamp exclusive from 2020 which I'm hoping will get a physical release at some point. Closing the mix is Pablo Color's lovely guitar noodle 'El Abrazor' from his latest (at time of writing) LP Hora Azul, released in 2021. A big thanks to Mike Salta for taking the time to record this mix.

The music of Mike Salta aka Gert Nygaard flaunts an eclectic palette, collecting strands from New Orleans funk, 80’s italo disco or Brazilian tropicalia and transforming them into rich and sun-drenched dance music.

His newest single Yaeyama, produced in collaboration with long-time studio partner Mortale, is a sumptuous piece of chillout to call on the summer. A full-bodied groove is adorned with silky organs while a re-purposed 90’s rave-sample gives way to Nygaard’s breezy hand-pan lead. The sound is buzzing, warm and balmy throughout. A joyously squirming trumpet solo to round off the pleasantries as well.

The track comes as part of a run of singles leading up to Mike Salta’s debut album for Music For Dreams.
