2023 marks the 10th anniversary of Heist Recordings and as always, we kick off the year with our Round up where each artist of the last year remixes another artist. We’ve had an all-star cast in 2022 with Crackazat, Byron the Aquarius, Dam Swindle, Orlando Voorn, Nebraska and Makèz, so the anticipation for this year’s Round Up was huge. 

We’ve had Byron the Aquarius remix one of Dam Swindle’s ‘Keep on Swindling’ hits ‘Good Woman’ and turn that afro dancefloor monster into a typical deep and vibey affair that Byron does so well. Crackazat has taken Orlando Voorn’s wonky soul track ‘Be with you’ into a peak time summer anthem, while Nebraska has poured some of his boom-bap disco sauce on Byron the Aquarius classic spoken word song ‘Succes’ Makèz go for an uptempo version of Nebraska’s Chant des Oiseaux that lies somewhere between discofied house and gloriously upbeat tech-house. Dam Swindle take a disco-meets techno approach to Crackazat 2022 hit Demucha and Orlando Voorn turns ‘La grande folie’ by Makèz into a Midwest cosmic jazz jam.

DJ SNEAK on Toy Tonics! Yes. It’s happening. Another US legend joins the German house label. After Kai Alcé (EP on Toy Tonics in September 2023) and Joe Claussell who did an amazing remix for the label some time ago, now it’s DJ Sneak. It makes sense as Toy Tonics stands for that funky mix of three main inflences: original amercian soul based house music, the italo disco heritage and the more London or Paris 1990ies wildstyle house sound. DJ Sneak reached out to the label last year giving his props and showing love for many of Toy Tonics releases and the guys immediately invited him to join the label with an EP as its also his sound that is getting so popular again with the younger dance generation. Monologues boss Ben Gomori's edits of African classics for Sterns Edits and Africa Seven have won fans far and wide, with DJs from Optimo to Hunee, Folamour, Horse Meat Disco, HAAi and TSHA getting behind them. He continues this acclaimed body of work with this new release, carving up two gems, adding a little juice to them in the process. 

First up, a joyous slice of 1980s Camerooon from Emmanuel Kahe Et Jeanette Kemogne on 'Ye Medjuie', where rousing trumpet refrains meet undulating bass funk.
