Oxymoron

Some years ago I quit facebook and all the other social networks (except Soundcloud). Stupidly, I made a new account some months ago because I missed some of my music groups there. Well, that was a mistake. During the years, the community seems to have turned even more disrespectful, unfriendly and aggressive. What is up with us? Why seem most chats in networks to be about bullying and hurting one another? I have no idea, but I am happy to be able to create music that brings me tranquility and peace. How I Iove these slow rhythm patterns of a strong kick, the delays and echos, the warm bass and the pads that always feel like an ocean to sink in, embracing and securing. And by the way: I love the Soundcloud community, at least the bubble I luckily found here. All the ambient people, the sound explorers,  the creatives, the ones that are in love with sound & sound synthesis just like I am. Thank you for being a friendly, warm, supportive and well meaning community. Some of you I know for years now and some I just recently discovered, you became important to me with your music and your unbreakable will to create.

“You’re My Beautiful” is a love song I wrote for my wife Emma, to mark three significant milestones in her life. First, I wanted to give her a unique and special gift from my heart in the form of a love song for her birthday.   Second, Emma took early retirement in August 2023 from academia and research and was a professor of epidemiology at Ontario Tech University (OTU) in Oshawa, Ontario. We have taught at various institutions together over the years including Queen’s University in Kingston, Ontario, University of Windsor and most recently at OTU. We were passionate about teaching; have both received teaching awards and have co-published five textbooks related to public health together over the years.  Emma has recently released her first fantasy novel (Emma P. Shan) entitled “Ozia: When the Sky Tore” and plans on writing additional novels. We have also worked not only as partners in marriage, but also in research related to various noncommunicable diseases such as heart disease, stroke, and dementia.  Third, Emma is a breast cancer survivor, and this December will mark the 10th anniversary of her victory over this deadly disease.

"You're My Beautiful" is a collaboration between myself and Stephen Wrench, who wrote this beautiful instrumental and did the acoustic guitar performance.  It also features 5 times nominated Grammy artist Molly Cherryholmes on violin. On January 8,  2024 it hit No. 1 on the Euro Indie Network Music ranking and was No. 1 World Indie Network Top 100 Music list. Stephen has been a 6x Grammy Awardee and has won over 50 Gold and Platinum records throughout his career journey that spans 5 decades now.
