This week's Disquiet Junto prompt was to create a piece of music that you might hear as you wait to enter a therapist's office.

I knew I wanted some inoffensive "waiting" music that repeated so much that it faded into the background. I also wanted to recreate the white noises machines that are used to block out conversations. I also added to binaural waves that beat at the "gamma" frequency, which allegedly boost self-awareness and problem-solving (I think? For the life of me I can't find the web page I got that info from). 



I used some sidechain gating and flipped sidechain gating to the white noise play with and against the percussion and before I knew it, I had a 3 minute song.

Maybe I’m too deep 
in the pit
cause when the prayers that I’ve been sending 
finally reach the ears of heaven 
they’re too distorted in their distance from my lips

and I’m forever this damn tired
from fighting off defeat 

Got me calling all the spirits near
to carry on my message 
pass it through for heaven’s ear
and I must find the strength 
to persevere
