Next up on Fan Club Friends, we are excited to welcome de Vries.

A few words from our friend:

"Music has been a part of my life for as long as I can remember. Throughout my childhood I drifted between instruments and genres. Piano as a child; trombone as a teenager, bass guitar through to uni - all while covering music styles from jazz, funk, disco and progressive rock. However; later in life I realised nothing was as influential as when my Dad purchased of Logic 2 for Mac and a Korg X5 MIDI keyboard in the mid - 1990’s - I’d sneak into his “studio” and was fascinated by the idea of being able to play and manipulate the sounds as I please. This was my discovery of my love and passion for electronic music.

Over 20 years later, I’ve spent almost every spare moment refining my passion into a unique and defined sound that takes influence from my past (jazz, funk and progressive rock in particular) and channels it into a unique electronic sound that sits somewhere across the spectrum of disco, deep house, progressive house and melodic house & techno.

It is my absolute please to present my mix for The Fan Club. Since its inception I’ve felt a connection to the community and music style, so needless to say I was honoured when asked to put together a mix for The Fan Club Friends series. I wanted to create something that covers a variety of genres, that tells a story
through a journey of ups and downs, of energy and of emotion. A collection of electronic music old & new, taking turns both satisfying yet unexpected.
I had a ball creating this mix, and I can just hope you enjoy listening even half as much as I enjoyed creating it!"

I will keep in mind all these wonderful memories that we had the chance to live together .... In particular this trip to Thailand with the band ... I will never forget your happiness when you arrived on Koh Phan Gan ... And specially this party at the 360 Bar :)

You were passionate about Music as I am, I made this mix in your memory my brother, a lot of tracks from our favorite artists and a special one for you at the end which represents you in the minds of all the brothers of Noumea. you know what music means to me in my life, it's the best way i had to express to you all the love and friendship i have for you . I hope this mix will cross borders and travel as you liked to do <3

At first I was frustrated to have to rerecord this set due to, ahem, technical difficulties when I first played it. 

But then with each song I got to relive this amazing hour of sunshine, smiles, and love I had the pleasure of experiencing on the roof of Lightning Society yesterday. 

I put a lot of love into this set and I got so much more back. Thank you everyone who came out and I hope this brings you back to that sunny Brooklyn rooftop whenever you listen.
