From the bustling streets of Belo Horizonte, Brazil, to the heart of the global house music scene, DJ Daniel D has been spinning tracks that resonate with the soul of dance floors around the world. With Homemade Grooves #1, his latest EP offering under the vibrant banner of SynthFunk Music, Daniel invites us on a sonic journey that bridges the gap between the nostalgic echoes of the '70s funk and disco and the pulsating rhythms of modern house, nu-disco, and beyond. Here's a time machine with a disco ball, powered by synthesizers and an unquenchable passion for the groove.

The EP kicks off with "Just Funk," a track that grabs the listener by the collar, pulling one straight onto the dance floor. Its squelchy bass lines and bongo percussions resemble Italo escapades of yore, but the bright synthesizer chords and a relentless four-on-the-floor rhythm are all about getting your feet moving in the here and now. "Don't Miss It" takes a turn into the late-night vibes of a Chicago warehouse, with its classic house sound peppered with snazzy 808 snare rolls and deep keys, all built around a cheeky sample from an '80s movie favorite. The closing track, "Life Boat," offers a mid-tempo respite, layering arpeggiated synths over a driving techno bass line, with dramatic piano chords adding just the right amount of emotional heft to the EP's finale.

SynthFunk Music has indeed captured lightning in a bottle with Homemade Grooves #1, delivering a collection of tracks that feel simultaneously classic and fresh. This exceptional release is a vibrant, living entity that beckons one to dance, dream, and dive deep into the heart of house music.

The Dendê Funk EP is the result of Processman's partnership with fellow producer, musician and DJ, Fabio Santanna from Rio. Dendê Funk is a blend of the musical culture of Bahia with that of Rio de Janeiro, and international dance music, paying homage to icons. Disco Music, House, Boogie and Funk appear as part of the producer duo's influences.

"Lost in the Fold Pt. 2 and Good Life both started off as parts of my live show at some point in the last year. Good Life was a remix of sorts of TS Monk's "Bon Bon Vie", albeit taking it into a more moody, desperate feel than the upbeat skate jam that was the original. Similarly, Lost in the Fold Pt. 2 was a version of Lost in the Fold, off my first EP with Double Standard, that I played live, mixing some parts of various songs I'd been working on with some samples and the vocals from the original. It's a more tropical, Grace-Jonesy interpretation of the OG, but still has some of that melancholy feel." - Navid

'Into The Jungle' is the first collaboration between Desert Hearts Records boss, Mikey Lion, alongside Sol Selectas Records honcho, Sabo. Both known for regularly droppin' tribalistic drum grooves, Mikey & Sabo bonded over a common love of music and a less common love of skateboarding. They both knew it was only a matter of time before they got in the studio together to make some magic. The title track 'Into The Jungle' is a deep, forward thinking tune that takes the listener on a ride through the mystical depths of the jungle. You can almost feel the energy of the jungle breathing down your neck as you make your way through the song's rises and falls. 'Lonely Boy's Mighty Jungle Mix' takes it up another notch as the same mystic synths from the original track build for nearly 4 minutes before exploding into a massive high energy drop. The result is a 9 minute epic that is sure to rock any peak time dance floor. The next track on the EP titled 'Sally', is a much darker, stomper of a tune you wouldn't normally expect from Mikey & Sabo. Laced with big kicks, heavy synths, and cryptic vocals to boot, 'Sally' was made for peak time in a dark warehouse. Finally, to round off the EP, 'Sally' gets remixed by badass Joyce Muniz who brings a cranking tech house vibe to the track. The bassline chugs along to constantly changing high hats until the acid synth at the end brings the whole thing home. In typical Desert Hearts fashion, this entire EP was made to crush dance floors.

Part mythical desert harlequin, part modern soul conductor, Mikey Lion is more than a DJ––He’s a freak of nature and an energy controller. The San Diego-native has earned a dusty mystique over the past few years as the center of the Desert Hearts movement and as a house and techno provocateur with a stage presence that suggests he will ride this wave all the way to the top. If there's one thing Mikey does well, it's get the party started.

Lion, real name Michael Leon, has brought the mothafuckin' ruckus to the stages of Lightning in a Bottle, the dustiest storms at Burning Man, and The Do LaB at Coachella, earning nods from Claude VonStroke, Jamie Jones, and Green Velvet in the process. In doing so, Lion and his signature top hat have developed a boisterous voice in the House & Techno scene with strong tribal, hip-hop, and psychedelic elements.

But it all started with Wu-Tang and Daft Punk. Lion first found his way behind the decks as a thirteen year old kid, scratching underground hip-hop records religiously after school. At Coachella as a seventeen year old, he witnessed that legendary Daft Punk performance on the same night he tasted his first dose of psychedelics. The show had such a monumental impact on him, he gave up Hip-Hop and became a House DJ the very next day.

After honing his craft with weekly marathon DJ sessions at Sala Razzmatazz in Barcelona, Mikey was introduced to Burner culture at Lightning in a Bottle, 2011. It was at his first Burning Man in 2011 that he found a community calling and merged forces with his brother Porkchop, life long friends Marbs & Deep Jesus, and the inimitable Lee Reynolds to form The Desert Hearts Crew.

In November 2012, Desert Hearts began as a seedy, 200-person renegade gathering deep in the Mojave Desert. The intrepid crew barely survived a set of extreme weather conditions and unfortunate circumstances, but that first party sparked a fire. The entire point of that first Desert Hearts was to create as much love as humanly possible, and now that same gathering has evolved into the darling of the West Coast house and techno scene. The Bi-annual festival is capped at 3500 attendees in order to create the best possible vibe. Built upon beautiful people getting as weird as possible to deep and trippy house and techno, Desert Hearts has already achieved iconic status in the North American Festival Scene. 

Desert Hearts has given rise to a family of thousands and it's safe to call it a bonafide movement of love. And while Desert Hearts Records launched in 2014 as a totally-free record label, pushes the sonic aesthetic of the scene, the crew’s busy international calendar of bookings has the DH message spreading far and wide. At the center of it all is Mikey Lion, the dusty prince of desert hearts, a beacon of weird far and wide, and one of this generation’s most compelling agents of love.
