Gunshot blues is the first track I have written and recorded. I recorded the track at HQ Studios in Manchester. I first started writing the song about 7 years ago but then moved onto writing the next song and then the next song and so on. I finally got around to finishing this one last year and taking it to the studio to record. I play the guitars, bass and there is an organ somewhere in the background. I then attempt to sing as well. Drums are a mix of samples put together by the producer. There is some other percussion in there such as tambourine and I don’t know if there is a technical name for it but “shaky egg”? My Dad did those as he came with me to the recording studio when i did this track and I wanted him to be a part of it. See what you think…..

This song was made organically with a 1972 Gibson 12 string that has my teeth marks in it from when I was a baby. Also used is a Peavey bass and a Yamaha MOXF8.  The last 10 seconds capture the decay of the sound of the guitar and bass only. When I was little I used to love the never ending sound of the piano decay with the sustain pedal held down. Hope you enjoy!

Here's a Solo Improvisation i created on the 'Roland LX708 Hybrid Piano', and  recorded on a USB Thumb Drive whilst shopping for my next level keyboard.  😊

I love the sound of it's 'Rhodes Suitcase Piano' setting, which i know from owning and playing the original during the mid 70's and 80's.

Supreme Waves

Well, the song‘s title is relatively straight-forward. Due to the harmonies that sound (at least for me) quite oriental and the unsquare metra at some parts, this song reminds me of one of my all-time most favourite books. I leave it up to you, dear Listener, to imagine, how this specific tale evolves .

Composition-wise: The piece is in a scale (a-a#-c#-d-e-f-g-a) that is not an ecclestical mode but rather influenced by oriental scales. I read a bit about Persian music and though this scale also does not seem to occur in the Persian Dastgah system with its microtonal intervals, it still it reminds me of 1001 nights – can‘t help the cliche, hope, this is not understood as cultural appropriation ;-). 
The first minute until 1:07 the piece oscillates between just two harmonies (based on a and a#). Thereafter, the track shifts to the more lyric Dorian mode (d-f-g-a-b-c). The arpeggios starting @ 1:37 are meant to resemble a Persian tar. Thereafter, @ 2:11 the track reverts to the finish with the original tune but 1 tone lower (ie, the scale starts with g instead of a) and some minor rhythmic variations vs the beginning. 
The base rhythm is a 4/4, though this is interrupted frequently by syncopes to allow for a more free floating rhythmic texture. Moreover, the underlying 4/4 is at times interrupted by beats of length 6/4 (e.g. @ 0.14, 1:11, 2:25, 2:44,… ). 

The track has been recorded on a Roland FP-90 and mastered in Cubase by adding compressor, reverb, a Stereo enhancer and fiddling a bit with the EQ.
The picture was created with Stable Diffusion. I find it fascinating that most of the figures upon closer inspection make little anatomic sense but still our brain accepts them upon a short glance as a perfectly valid picture.

This is a song that originated with Eddy, who sent it to Tez and me to spice up. His original stems were guitar and organ. Tez added the riddim and a rhythm guitar track, as well as produced and mixed the whole thing. To that, I added the bass and some electric piano. I really enjoy working with nutty if these guys a lot! They both have such a great sense of authentic dub. I always really enjoy listening to what we come up with together. I hope you do, too.

Hello and thank you for dropping by.

Thank you very much to everyone who takes the time to listen, like and share my noises. I am extremely grateful. My apologies if I take a little while to respond to those that leave nice comments.

I like listening to music, making simple, tunes when I have time, and generally faffing about in an inefficient manner. Hopefully you might like something on offer here. 

I use a Hinkler Cigar Box guitar (about $30 from Aldi, great fun), a Flying V ukulele, a couple of old keyboards, other bits and bobs, and a Yamaha tenor saxophone.
