As a devout atheist from my early years I have consequently chosen not to believe in anything that doesn’t have a justifiable or logical explanation. The concept of luck certainly comes into that category as it seems to suggest an exterior force as it’s cause, something I simply cannot accept.

But even non-believers talk about luck being either for or against them, throwing spilled salt over their shoulders or not walking under ladders, because these have become part of everyday behaviour or  language, dictated by habit more than any sense of logic.  The terms in this song all relate to some mysterious good or bad vibe, including - and I’ve known people who actually do this - which direction in which your bed might face when you’re asleep.

Although also a devout atheist, my brother Gal is a good example of such habits, often using the term “Touch Wood” if he wants something to happen in his or our favour.  I think he inherited this from our Mum, who used to say it all the time and would go as far as trying to touch something made of wood to complete the ‘spell', not always easy in what had become an increasingly plastic age.

Despite all of the above, I think Gal must have been ‘Touching Wood’ when he first formed a friendship with Hans, because I’m still not at all sure that we deserve to be associated with someone of such proficiency, consummate talent and innate kindness.  Some may say we have been very lucky.  We have certainly been exceedingly fortunate, which is just about as far as I’m prepared to go.  Whatever your beliefs, we hope you enjoy the song. Thank you very much to everyone who takes the time to listen, like and share my noises. I am extremely grateful. My apologies if I take a little while to respond to those that leave nice comments.

I like listening to music, making simple, tunes when I have time, and generally faffing about in an inefficient manner. Hopefully you might like something on offer here. 

I use a Hinkler Cigar Box guitar (about $30 from Aldi, great fun), a Flying V ukulele, a couple of old keyboards, other bits and bobs, and a Yamaha tenor saxophone.
