It’s hard to believe we’ve taken over two years, and 24 releases, to sign music from New Zealand. Especially given the near stranglehold the country had on bass-led electronic music over the last few years, with the likes of Truth, Perverse, Ghost Note, Epoch, Arkotypes, Headland (and more many) - not to mention Kursk and the Innamind Recordings gang or our Averted Vision family - breaking through. But all is resolved with our 25th EP…

“Christchurch’s Akcept has been on our radar for a fair amount of time, appearing with new material in a number of FKOF Sessions over the last year or so. Given the quality of Alex’s music, much like the rest of his Kiwi brethren - we’re surprised his release on our imprint is his solo debut. But that’s no bad thing; as we’re always happy to launch new talent! 

“We’d be hard pushed to select any of the four tunes on FKOFd025 as clear favourites. The release embodies what we’ve come to love about Alex’s music; diverse and adventurous sounds that feel as comfortable together as they do apart. The EP opens with 'Desert Dubbing', a tune Korrupt’s been testing whenever the opportunity presents itself. It’s yet to disappoint. 'Cut It' follows - with its wicked sample, wheeling sub and floaty synths. 'Panic Attack' evokes an almost Perverse-esque vibe with its haunting atmospherics and relentlessly aggressive low end. If you can’t experience this on a system, you don’t know what you’re missing. Last, but definitely not least, we have 'Martyr'. It feels like the most experimental inclusion on the record - with its future-facing vibe - but still epitomises the producer’s ability to craft something truly special. It’s a tune that feels at home at 11pm opening the night - and again at 6am as the sun rises.

Mi Deh Yah. (meaning "I'm Here" in Jamaican tongue) is a Reggae/Dub styled EP composed by Mike Barry AKA TheBusiness.
Also featuring other artists such as Enki, Father Figure, and Slumpa, TheBusiness. takes on another spectrum of sound while still keeping the same production aspects.

Thank you all so much for your continued support, time, and consideration. This year has been absolutely spectacular and I've seen so many places and beautiful people and have made so many new friends, I can't thank you enough for everything you guys give to me and there just really isn't any words to explain how much it means to me to be a part of music with all of you. From December 14 - January 31, 12 Bass Coast alumni are providing original tracks for download by donation. Bass Coast will match all donations made and all proceeds will be donated to The Conayt Friendship Center in Merritt, British Columbia on the shared traditional territories of the Nłeʔkepmx and Sylix.

Raising $2,500 will allow The Conayt Friendship Center to send five youth and a chaperone to Gathering Our Voices, a two day conference that brings indigenous youth from across Canada together to learn, explore and engage with culture.

Over the past few years The Conayt Friendship Center has not had the funds to send Merritt youth to the conference. The community in Merritt has welcomed Bass Coast to the area for the past 8 years. By donating and downloading tracks, you are making a lasting, positive impact on the lives of local youth at a vital time.

Hanns production's have been top notch right out of the bag, another Bristol based legend we happened to scoop up early has really put a big dent in the game over the years with his dark and deep basslines. Honestly we were surprised with the results of the release sales because there are some serious wall shakers in this release that are straight MAD! With MILC003 & MILC004 we learned it's hard to follow up big names even if the music is up to par! The lack of sales don't only generate negatives, anytime we play these tunes out, they basically go down like they're plates. Which is a perfect reason why you should pick up the 'Killah' & 'Lockdown' EP, especially if you are looking for that hench Bristol sound!

"Hanns comes through with the fourth instalment of the Milc series and delivers a real spectacle - grinding, aggressive wobbling all round. "Locked In" pays homage to the UK's long-standing pirate radio chant and in fact, its broken bass swirl almost reminds us of a million listeners locked in to the sound of dubstep's powerful rhythms. "Love Life" and "Like A Fox" are also outstanding examples of the genre's evolution since its incarnation over ten years ago - something which Hanns has developed into an all-out sonic frenzy. The title track "Killah" certainly is killer and it shows Hanns at his most daring, where those bass wobbles are distorted, chewed up and spat out into a reggae-leaning monster. Gutz takes care of the remix duties and by hell does he come through in style! B-I-G."
