Special session Miles, great stuff man, big love

Based in Marseille, born and raised on Switzerland border, french DJ/Producer Kriss Life Recorder has been moving and drawing his own signature since some time on the international scene with influences known to be rooted into the 90’ies and early 2000  sound and culture of Detroit, Chicago  house and techno music mixed with his European background.
Recognized for his « deep » house-techno sound, since his release on Keith Worthy’s Detroit label « Aesthetic Audio » back in 2012 , Kriss has since then, been constantly expressing, travelling between both genres and atmospheres, moving forward and finding his way through his musical vision which gave releases on labels like « Bokhari » « Appian Sound », « Grounded In Humanity » or « Hizou Deep Rooted »  to name a few aside of Dj gigs in Europe and more with stops at Tresor Berlin, Night Moves London (Jane Fitz & Jade Seatle party), Belgrade, Mallorca, and more recently in Georgia and Armenia. In the meantime Kriss has been also working on his local scene with the collective/record shop, Extend & Play.

In 2017 Life Recorder took new steps, focused on the birth of his label «Life Notes Recordings» releasing 4 ep’s and still going. 
Then in 2020 Swiss masters Alex and Steph Attias released his « Time Moods » Ep on their  respected « Visions Recordings », which has been getting support from legends and inspirations like Ron Trent or DJ Deep.

Phonons Podcast 083 Life Recorder

This mix was recorded for Mike Huckaby in 2011, where he invited me to guest the final episode of his radio show on CJAM Radio USA.
I was honoured and we became friends and the last time we saw each other was at my residency at Freerotation festival in Wales, a few years ago, where we spent hours discussing the benefits of the natural spring water I bought along to the festival, taken from the spout of the wells, from where I live.. He said he'd never tasted anything so pure and proceeded to drink up most of my supply during the festival 😂. 

I loved Mike, as so many did and was distraught to hear of his passing. It makes this mix all the more poignant for me, to hear his voice...
Here's to Huck, I hope you are sailing through the stars right now, spreading the word of good music...

NB: The mix was cut short by 15 mins, featuring 3 more tracks, an early Adam Beyer record, Conforce and rounding off with Relativity, by myself, the archive didn't get the whole show...

Recorded on 2 x Technics SL1210 / Pioneer mixer & Adam A7 monitors.

You wont really get it until you hear it on a proper sound system,  it just doesn't work on a phone or laptop. You cant flick through it either.  You have to let the tracks breathe and do their thing.  Put it on loud and let it do its thing

The Space Between the Bass

Eddie Reynolds aka Tr One is a DJ and producer based in Carlow, Ireland. A much-respected figure within Ireland’s fertile electronic music scene, Reynolds cites the likes of Dublin’s D1 Recordings, Kraftwerk, and Detroit as early influences. From a DJ perspective, Reynolds has played in all of Ireland and Dublin’s foremost nightspots including Twisted Pepper, Wigwam, Tengu, District 8 and beyond in Belfast, London, Manchester and Berlin.

	Tr-One’s productions have a combination of Chicago, Detroit and Dublin influences, giving as a result, music supported and played for respected underground artists like Santiago Salazar, Moxie, Life Recorder to mention a few. He has released music on labels like Don’t Be Afraid, Lunar Disko and Solar Phenomen, as well as in Short Attention Records in 2021. 

	In addition, Eddie Reynolds runs his own label Intrinsic Rhythm where he’s dedicating himself to release both his own music and others. Recently, its latest EP, “Return To Titan” was released with music by John Heckle.

EPM Podcast 167 comes from head ‘hydro-tripper’ Black Eyes. Hailing originally from Manchester, in the industrial north of England, Black Eyes has effortlessly relocated to the similarly gritty streets of Berlin, where his raw, trademark sound blends perfectly with the sodium lit concrete environment. His deep, multi-layered techno sound can not only be heard on his own label, Lost Control 2097 but also on his 7 year NTS radio residency and now Balamii radio. But for a man who cites Omar S and Young Marco amongst his key influences, DJing is where you will find him at his best. EPM Podcast 167 captures an emerging global talent coming into his own sound which is perfectly captured here amongst tracks from Rick Wade, Jon Dixon, Paul Johnson, Soulphiction, Glenn Davis, Technoir and a cut from his debut solo EP. 

Whilst excelling as a producer of self-described “Hydro-Trip” which is deep and trippy house, Black Eyes is at heart primarily a DJ, and always will be. His sound is heavily influenced by Detroit producers Mike Huckaby, Walt J, Omar S and Norm Talley as well European DJs like Young Marco and MCDE with their unique mixing styles. These influences shine through both in his sets and in the releases from his own label, LOST CONTROL 2097, most notably heard over a 7 year residency with the infamous NTS radio, more recently Balamii radio, and at the now legendary parties he ran at The White Hotel in Manchester. 

Since moving to Berlin in 2022, he has released Planet People - Terra Firma with Reedale Rise. This is their deep techno + house side project and their debut record is available via Rush Hour. His solo EP ‘Hydro-Trip vol 1’ is out this August on Lost Control 2097 with a remix from Rolando of Los Hermanos / Underground Resistance fame.
