I pulled the PIN I always open my phone with

Before it all collapsed, who knew a wall of text from you could hurt?
Knew the sentence long before I saw the executioner
I got the block, while that angry mob of desperate nerds
Couldn't wait to see that news/noose, hanging on your every word

…Huh, it formed a powerful stillness
I tried to connect the dots before the bouncing ellipsis
Had eclipsed this feeling with a different one to show me
The message you had sent was just a finger gun emoji

A haunting ringtone melody that's full of wrong notes
Plays on your ghosting ship, complete with skulls and crossbones
Not just me who can hear all those mutineer's lost souls
Groan as you unlock your phone with a nuclear launch code



Felt like there were skilled marksmen telling me to write a sentence
You were like a drill sergeant yelling at a private message
It left tenants shell shocked as your lightning bolts flanked
With a major upset as you tried to pull rank

You'd treat your cellphone like a Ouija Board
To scream at friends so dead to you, they're ghosts that you've seen before
In treaties of war, you'd insist on the worst deals
It's not a contacts app, it's a list of confirmed kills

It's a mushroom cloud that followed every message you sent with
A violent shockwave that buried several friendships you've ended

I debated retaliating with a blitz I'd send you later
But I bypassed the timer and I clicked the detonator

Hailing from Portland, Oregon, Miles began making music in 2016. In 2018 they became a founding member of punk-rock-inspired internet rap group @staydeadboys, and began their solo career in earnest in 2020.

Miles’ music reflects and embraces the contradictions of life and identity, of confidence and humility, of autonomy and limit, of humor and even joy in sadness.
