Gilead tells the tale of a long-forgotten city worlds away from ours. Although only empty ruins and broken artifacts remain, the empire of Gilead towered far above all others in the twelve kingdoms during its era of prosperity. Gileadean artists and philosophers constantly challenged the thresholds of perceived reality while their brilliant scientists were known in worlds beyond for creating great flying machines that could manipulate the fabric of time. This piece seeks to tell the legend of its people.

Stress Management Therapy (Rehearsal 3/26/16)

My 2nd Piece for Concert Band, entitled "Zenith's Flight", performed by the world-renowned TAD Wind Symphony and conducted by Maestro Tad Suzuki. The piece is meant to convey the grandeur and excitement of the launching of the airship "Zenith" in a world close to, but far removed, from our own. Zenith's Flight - Performed by the TAD Wind Symphony

Written for 17-piece big band (5 sax, 4 tpt., 4 bone, guitar, piano, bass, drums).

I wrote this as a meditative piece, initially. My goal was to take a classic instrumentation and incorporate elements of classical music, pop/modern music, etc... while still maintaining the improvisational and rhythmic aspects of jazz. This particular recording is the studio version recorded by the UNLV Jazz Ensemble I. Soloists are Julian Tanaka on soprano and myself on trombone. I hope you enjoy :)
