'Dj Fungus' also known as Waawiyekamig (Wah-We-Yah-Kuh-Me) meaning "Rounded Earth"; Born in Colorado, grew up in Detroit. Alaskan Native, Member of the Evansville Village tribe. Been fascinated with music since around the age of 5, playing the piano in my late grand fathers saloon for the alchies. Later, started playing instruments in school, such as snare drum and tenor sax. Started DJ'in in 98', spinnin at various bars, clubs, and parties throughout the Detroit area and later landing a weekly residency at club Carbon in Hamtramck. Quit there to move up to Traverse City in early 2002. Shortly after the move, I gave up drinking and needed somethin to fill my time. What better way than to start producing my own beats? Naturally linked up with like minded heads in the hip hop scene here which lead to the formation of Lake Affiliates in 2004. Over the years, I've either DJ'd for and/or shared the stage with greats such as El Da Sensei, Digable Planets, Phat Kat, Blueprint, Illa J, Invincible, One Be Lo, Brother Ali, Keith Murray, Redman, Illogic, 2Mex, and many, many more. Full length album available entitled "UNDERGROUND KULTURE", featuring mad amounts of talent from across Michigan and beyond so check that shit out! Later linked up with Resa.P and released the CD "Food For Thought", featuring 2mex (Visionaries), El Da Sensei (Artifacts), & Finale.  Been on a hiatus for a minute dealing with life on life terms but most definitely Idle No More.  Expect more bangers and collaborations soon to come.  Miigwech.
