Eight years in and over 50 albums deep, several members of The Jazz Jousters collective are still game to take on our challenges and test themselves. On this occasion allow us to present 'Sidenote: Pulling Strings'.

The concept behind this one was based on the Jousters being challenged to sample (or compose) any string based instrument. We could have gone for one or another, but the idea was to keep it open to a range of stringed instruments for a more varied sound. Tamango Records' upcoming reference comes from young enfant-prodige Nathan Alzon: if we are to speak of rising talents, he's definitely one to look out for. The French-Taiwanese artist lands on the label for the first time with the classy and sleek 'Heartbreaker' EP, which follows previous releases on NO ART, What NxT, and Deeperfect. On the remix side, we welcome Spaniard revelation Rendher, who provides one of his gloomy, rolling numbers.

The EP kicks off with 'Heartbreaker', a lush deep-house piece filled with full-bodied grooves, silk pads, and a catchy female vocal that will resonate throughout your body.

Just in time to kick off the Summer, Captain Planet has teamed up with 2 long-time collaborators (Zuzuka Poderosa & Raphael Futura) for a new Brazilian disco funk song, "Moqueca.” The song harkens back to Brazil's legendary funk parties in the 70's and early 80's - where soundsystems bumped legends like Tim Maia, Sandra Da Sa & Gilberto Gil - while infusing some fresh contemporary energy and extra thump for today's dancefloors. Zuzuka's bright vocals bounce over a bubbly bassline, syncopated percussion and wormy vintage synthesizers, while an additional punch is brought in the form of horn arrangements by the prolific maestro Todd Simon, another frequent Captain Planet collaborator. 

“Moqueca” takes inspiration from the Brazilian dish of the same name, a nationally famous fish stew that varies across the regions of Brazil. In her lyrics, Zuzuka talks about the origins and variations of Moqueca, starting with the style from Espirito Santo, her home state, and continuing to Moqueca Baiana, from Bahia, which incorporates African influences and ingredients. The result is a song that is as much an homage to Brazilian music as it is its food, culture and people. 

The song is the first single from Captain Planet's upcoming "Sounds Like Home” EP, which finds the producer turning towards more retro, analogue and live band elements, all with an eye towards his signature “Gumbo Funk” of global sounds. “Moqueca” is out on Brooklyn’s Bastard Jazz Recordings May 27th.

A long time ago humans left earth to seek survival. After seventeen cycles of space travel they intend to return. De Las Esferas puts this story together in the 4 tracks of his EP called "Biosfera".  Musically this travel takes you on a journey of analog instruments, from percussions to strings, which were all played by himself. Very organic, very original, very Downtempo Love.

Millennium Jazz Music is an independent label and service provider based in London and home to talent from various parts of the globe including the United Kingdom, France, Canada, Germany, the Netherlands, Poland, the United States and Ukraine.

MJM was formed by Gadget in 2003 with the main focus of providing production and sound engineering for up and coming artists and producers, as well as providing workshops for young people. Although the first releases date back to 2003, MJM became dedicated to project management and releasing new material from 2008 up to the present date.

Now with an eclectic roster of talented musicians and wordsmiths, Millennium Jazz Music is focused on releasing more material of various styles as we continue to add to our already large archive.
