Made this song on my little OP-1 synth. What a small wonder it is! I spent some time making my own sounds, the type of sounds I wasn't hearing so much of on this synth. The new firmware subtly but significantly enhanced the sound shaping capabilities, and added the wonderful arpeggiator. The OP-1 has a max final album-recording length of 6 minutes. My track is longer, so I slowed the tape speed down. Simple solution, however I had to feed the final audio into an external DAW (Ableton). Anyhow, the only presets I used were drum presets, and the only samples used were an old sample of waves at the beach, and my voice. I recored a short singing sample of the numbers '1979'. I was in a hotel lobby...so I didn't feel like singing extended phrases with people walking in and out. So I recorded it in my drum sampler and then used the new arpeggiator to randomize the numbers. It was a fun process overall.
