Introducing some fresh talent to the CIA catalogue, we welcome Kublai for his first release on the label – the eclectic ‘Free Flow EP’. 
True to his city, the Manchester based producer draw inspirations from a diverse palette and his EP is a testament to this, showcasing his sound via four tracks representing four different styes. 
After pushing things forward during lockdown with releases on Goldfat and Vandal (alongside fellow CIA artist Minor Forms), the ‘Free Flow EP’ marks the next development for Kublai; which, with the guidance and encouragement of Total Science, has led him to explore new avenues in DnB. 
“Initially I didn't plan this as an EP, but after writing a lot of liquid, I wanted to try my hand at some heavier sounds... I've just always wanted to make music that I love to hear, that's got soul; whether it be the heavier side of things or the more liquid side of things.” 
Setting things off is ‘Free Flow’ as Kublai experiments with different types of percussion, atop of uplifting pads and vocals. A driving bassline carries throughout, leading neatly into ‘Emerald Funk’, where some tech funk influences come into play on a darker stepper that’s seeping with groove. 
Switching the vibe again, even to his own surprise, ‘Revelation’ sees Kublai impressively exploring on a jungle tip for the first time, with rolling breaks, vocal cuts and switching bass, before completing the EP with the piano strewn, sultry sounds of ‘Young Soul’ – a full circle back to his soulful roots.

INERTIA return to IN:DEEP with their followup to 2021’s “Force in Motion” EP on the label, which comes in the form of their latest release entitled SHADOWS. Since their first appearance on the label last year which came soon after their formation, the duo behind INERTIA have kept busy with a number of recent releases in the interim on labels including Citrus Music, Four Corners Music, and Resonate Audio. With SHADOWS, the duo debut five new tracks spanning the breadth of their sonic range and fitting with the exacting philosophy present throughout the rest of the IN:DEEP back catalog.

The EP’s first track, 95, drifts with ease through the foundational sounds of the Drum & Bass genre whilst a breakbeat rolls out effortlessly below, and finds itself contrasted by the metallic and technical tonalities of the track ABDUCTION which follows it. The percussive STIMULANTS then continues to accelerate the pace of the EP, stripping it down to its bare essentialls amidst a cacophony of tripped out vocals which provide a prelude of psychedelic tension that is released by the elastic movements of the bassline within WAGNEW as it follows in step with the prior track. Finally, the bellowing roars of WILDTHING sweep through the remaining duration of the EP with vigor and ferocity alike, reigned in only by the steady rhythms that drive and direct them forward to the work’s end.

With SHADOWS, newfound duo INTERTIA continue to hone and develop their sound after their breakout first year as they return to IN:DEEP to champion minimalistic sonics for which the label is known and deliver five exacting slices of Drum & Bass to those with an ear tuned for the duo’s shadowy sounds.

DJ, Producer, singer, songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, promoter… E-Lisa wears many caps in this game. Often several at once.

Currently flexing on Dubplate Dread with a series of deep cuts that smoulder with soul but still carry the heaviness and darkness Ray Keith’s label is synonymous with, her sound is unique, rich in references and prone to exciting twists and turns. Above all, it’s the sound of a talented individual who’s finally able to express herself and explore her musical roots with no boundaries. Something she hasn’t always been able to do.

A journey through the styles and sounds that she’s embraced since her return to drum & bass over five years ago, it’s a full-flavour excursion with beats ranging from the likes of Sub Focus to Sl8r and stacks of E-Lisa’s own music, culminating with a beautiful unreleased collaboration with the late great Skibadee.
