Sonic Boom Sound Art

Snap Judgment is a weekly storytelling radio show and podcast, hosted by Glynn Washington. Snap mixes real stories with killer beats to produce cinematic, dramatic, kick-ass radio. Snap’s raw, musical brand of storytelling dares listeners to see the world through the eyes of another. This is storytelling… with a BEAT!!  Snap first aired on NPR stations nationwide in July 2010. Snap Judgment is now aired on over 400 public radio stations.

Sun Ra and Don Cherry live at Battery Park, New York City, June 21st 1989, 5:00am - 6:00am - Summer Solstice Celebration sponsored by New Wilderness Foundation.

This was the final Summer Solstice Concert sponsored by the New Wilderness Foundation.    These tape archives were recorded on a cassette 'boom box' with stereo condenser microphones.  

*(There is no connection, sponsorship or association with New Wilderness Foundation, Sun Ra and his Arkestra, Don Cherry, and these public recordings.  There were dozens of 'tapers' recording this public performance, a segment of which was broadcast live on Good Day New York local television program.) (These recordings will eventually be uploaded to www.archive.org in FLAC downloadable format.)

After the performance some of the hard-core fans stayed around and hung out with Sunny and June Tyson.    This fan was privileged and honored to drive Ms. Tyson to her home in Harlem while she sang in the car as it lightly rained outside.
